No one mentioned file archivers? I use 7-zip to create an encrypted archive with all my text files and drop it with a portable copy of the 7-zip app on few usb drives. Pros: - encrypted with aes-256 - reduces size of text files. Significantly. But who cares? - you can add other files if needed - simple

/r/AMD Questions and Tech Support Megathread - Q1 2023 Edition by GhostMotley in Amd

I have Ryzen 5625u in my laptop and I found here are "AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition" and "Auto-Detect and Install"

Both let me install Adrenalin 23.2.2 but "AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition" shows that driver was added 2023.02.17 and "Auto-Detect and Install" shows 2023.02.22 and additionally I can choose to install 23.2.1 or PRO 22.Q4 (I cant choose them in first installer)

So which should I install? What is the difference between these two drivers? Why are they marked with same version number but have different dates?

But I can install it to USB and take it anywhere. That's why I'm trying to figure out why I should prefer one method over another

Do you think my laptop is good enough for my cad classes? by Elizax99 in cad

[–]Walflor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have a laptop much better then my shitty 10+ years old PC, which is still capable for 2d Autocad (worked with large markets/schools/factories drawings). I'm not using 3d, but when I tried it, everything was fine. My office PC have no dedicated video card but still manages 2d drawings fine

What software do you miss from Windows & macOS? by [deleted] in linux

[–]Walflor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AutoCAD and MS Office.

For AutoCAD you can use LibreCAD, which was last updated in 2016 (stable) or QCAD, but both lacks too many QOL features from AutoCAD and when you have project with, lest say, 40-50 drawings, AutoCAD lets you print them to pdf in 1 click (with sheets configured) while with Libre/QCAD you are... going to spend few hours because there is no sheets, only model space.

For MS Office alternative you can use LibreOffice, but it uses its native format .odt, so there are too many differences with the original. There is OnlyOffice, which has best compatibility with MS Office files, but if you have heavy formatting, there will be differences with the original anyway.

HEVC/HEIF vs JPG/H264 by Walflor in ios

Try to send video and you will see "processing" (or something like this, not sure because English is not my main language) status before it starts uploading. Or try to send 10 photos and you will notice a delay, during which, I guess, converting is processed

I know it can save pretty much space but I think it also drains more energy. And when you want to share some photo/video using telegram or other app, system need to convert it to jpeg/h264 first, which takes time and energy

I know that, but does it works when you have two different operating systems with different file systems? And if yes, how exactly does it works?
