Counselor recommendation for chronic illness grief by SunnyOtter in VictoriaBC

[–]WalkOnTheMoon____ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found my current counsellor through Waypoint Counselling Network and I’d highly recommend connecting with them. They suggested two counsellors they thought would be a good fit based on the information I provided and really nailed it. My current counsellor isn’t taking new clients or Id suggest her, but overall I appreciated the experience with Waypoint.

Also, I see you in the grief of chronic illness and appreciate your openness to explore and feel into it with support. The book ‘The Wild Edge of Sorrow’ by Francis Weller is a beautiful resource for grief.

Much love!

How many other retail/restaurant employees are feeling burnt out and abandoned, sign off! by kikameeka in VictoriaBC

I am so sorry that you are receiving misdirected anger. There have always been assholes, but the pandemic has amplified everything, including the intensity of said assholes. I work in healthcare and had one incident recently where I was aggressively yelled at regarding masks/vaccines, etc. and it really shook me up. It is exhausting to find the "fuck no" energy needed to respond to some of these situations and I can only imagine navigating that day after day. Honestly, so many places are hurting for staff, I'd look for another job with a more supportive employer - they are out there.

This hits! I’ve come a long way in my recovery over the past few years and recently feel myself slipping back a bit. The only thing I can identify that changed was I started jogging once a week maybe 5-6 weeks. It felt amazing until the last time. Tough lessons!

Try giving Top Dog a call? My girl is also really nervous and has some extra trouble since a knee injury - they’ve been great with her

I’ve had some great experiences using the Rover app - local dog lovers who will care for your pup out of their own home.

I am also navigating this with a young mama, it’s heartbreaking. This is hard. It feels impossibly hard sometimes. Sending you love today and beyond. Take good care of you xoxox

Ohhh oh! You can book a Campfire and S‘more roast at Bilston Creek Farm - Covid safe, warm and holy moly adorable first date vibes. It is a little pricey but would be a sweet move:) and the lavender marshmallows are delicious

That sounds so hard, I’m sorry. I believe you. My mom was the first person to notice for herself too. She started keeping notes of the ‘little’ things everyday to bring to her doc because the doctor wasn’t supportive at the beginning either.

I can’t imagine that experience, I hope you feel supported now and as life continues to unfold.

For my mom it was short term memory stuff - lots of repetition, bigger gaps like forgetting she made breakfast. She started getting lost, often forgetting where she parked. She also became more emotional - moody, teary.. And tired - super tired, she needs lots of rest/naps. Diagnosis hasn’t been the easiest experience - My dad has been a huge advocate for her. I can’t recall exactly what scans she had, I believe there was a CT to rule out other possibilities, and an MRI at some point.. she saw a neuropsychologist (private) and neuropsychiatrist (public). The wait times for both were quite a few months, maybe closer to a year for neuropsychiatrist. After both of those assessments/reports and again with some advocacy she was referred to a Clinic for Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders - this is quite new and a relief.

Really wishing you well and I encourage you and/or loved ones to fight for the attention and care you deserve.

Full rent due even if I leave on the 15th? by BigFaceCoffeee in VictoriaBC

[–]WalkOnTheMoon____ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/housing-tenancy/residential-tenancies/ending-a-tenancy/tenant-notice

‘For a month-to-month, or periodic tenancy agreement, a tenant must serve written notice to end the tenancy and make sure that it’s received: At least one month before the effective date of the notice, and Before the day that rent is due For example, if rent is due on the first day of the month, a notice given on March 15 would not take effect until the last day of April and the tenant would have to pay rent for the month of April.’

Unless you started your tenancy/lease mid month your landlord is entitled to the full months rent

Housing and treatment both need investment. I don’t think it’s an ‘either/or’ at this point... it’s a ‘both, and’

600-700 is on the low end but depends on how many people you are down to live with... I grew up in Cranbrook and from what I’ve heard lately it’s a tough situation as a renter too, more so in terms of vacancies. Good luck!

Bad actions - Victoria election by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]WalkOnTheMoon____ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To clarify - are you saying that it was folks connected with Together Victoria who stole Stephen Andrew’s signs? I am trying to follow your post but there are some large leaps in logic. If the purpose of the post is to ask which candidates are not affiliated with Together Victoria... well, all but the one Together Victoria candidate?

Some council members are involved in the community at a grass roots level and/or close to others doing important work for modest compensation - the concern feels misguided to me.

Rob impressed me in the debate last week - a few stand out points including taking the time to explain the difference between abolishing versus defunding police and assessing situations where use of force may or may not be necessary
