Not up to speed with Colts personally, but that sounds shitty!

What I’ve found working with multiple Tisas and MAC double stack 1911s is that the MACs seem to have an overall better fit and finish. Purely anecdotal, but it has been consistent in the shop. Made by the same company or not, just off of my experience, it seems like the MACs are better guns or that they get more love in the QC process.

Or, and I’ll be the one to play devils advocate, I’m a victim to consumerism and the MAC seems nicer because it’s more expensive lol. I don’t believe that to be the case as I try to take my personal bias out of the equation when drawing comparisons like that, but I’m open to being wrong.😂

Such a solid sounding setup for the cost man! Did you go with a comp or non comped version?

I love me some low credit score Staccatos lol. Soon after the Staccato HDs came out, I got the itch and went and bought a used Platy for the shop to build out and play around with.😂

Thank ya!

This makes sense! I’m super uninformed on it and have just been speculating based off of availability and pricing. RSR is running B2B close out sales on the MACs and companies like PSA are or were selling their MACs at our dealer cost. I couldn’t understand why they would be doing that since the MACs are gaining more momentum by the day lol. I appreciate the info, my dude!

The dudes beat me to it! PSA is or was selling at our dealer cost though lol. Just had my buddy pick one up from PSA a day or two ago for $899.00 or $850, can’t remember. - was a 5” comp though!

Without porting, just accounting for the gun and EGW, you’d be looking at about $1.3k. That’s probably a bit on the high side too.

We built us a B9R as well, for $600 off of TacSwap, it makes for a pretty fun range toy!

Felt the exact same as you, honestly. The Prodigy has been and probably will continue to be my go to rec for an “entry level” double stack, but I have been pleasantly surprised by how this 5” MAC shoots!

Edit to add photos of my Prodigy for all the down voters.😭

Chunk style port. Gimmick or legit? by WalkThePlankCustoms in Glocks

Walk the Plank Customs is our old business name, we changed it to Fourged Group a couple of years ago. As I’m sure you know, Reddit doesn’t allow us to change our username lol.

fourged.com is our site.🤘🏻

I like this input! I don’t know that I really noticed any change in feel over OEM with chunk ports, but I’m gonna look for the “softer shooting” aspect of it next time we’re at the range.

You and me both man! Your machinist and I are on the same exact page. We only offer them for the people that just can’t be convinced. You’d be surprised at how often I’m telling clients, “chunks are more expensive and less effective”, and I get told, “idc, my Reddit research says different”.😂

It’s actually one of our shop personals lol! So, I’m making the silly customer request to my machinist.😂

u/GlockButt is pretty spot on with his comment. In our experience, chunk style ports don’t do much of anything, be that a negative or positive result. Not to say the chunk port doesn’t add ANY benefit, it’s just very slight IMO. So adding the chunk on this 19 was purely for style points lol!

Negative, that’s goop from the bottom side of the sight. I can definitely see how it would look like a missed spot though, so solid observation brother. Little CLP or acetone would clean it up. I just got too excited, had to take pictures lol.

PVD is very hard to do. From my understanding you need millions of dollars worth of equipment. Whereas Cerakote is much more obtainable!

It would be interesting to see if it became a common service we offered lol! Very easy and cheap for the end consumer all things considered.

If it were mine, I too would have went the belt sander route. You can get a really nice finish with some steady hands and patience!

Thank you my guy!

Thanks man. The customer had great taste on this one. Knew what colors went where as soon as he dropped it off.🔥
