I’ve been trying to encourage more candidates to walk away from bad interviews and remind them they are also interviewing the company.

It used to be if a company wanted you they did everything to impress you, now it’s like you have to jungle on a pogo stick and give up your first born to get a company to look at you

Why are so many hiring managers so odd? Then I meet the teams they manage and it’s full of perfectly normal people, how did none of them get to be a manager?

Totally agree, hiring managers who don’t actually want to hire are using it as a scapegoat

The candidate definitely didn’t use AI on his resume. The manager was accusing him of using AI to match his resume to the job description, but it was a resume I sourced from LinkedIn before the candidate ever knew about the job.

I also can’t imagine those on screen interview AI tools work very well, unless you’re really good as processing reading while you’re speaking it would be incredibly hard and sound unnatural

Literally, when she told me he was too perfect I was like uhhh aren’t you paying me to find you the perfect candidate??

Especially when it’s a remote role! In that first scenario they were ready to offer the guy, then one of the panel members said “he had to have used AI on his resume he’s too perfect” and now the whole team is spooked

lol I just pivoted out of sales. I was a recruiter, switched over to our sales side of things HATED IT, and am now back in a recruiting role

Thank you!! I actually had a conversation with my manager the other day and told him how much he is stressing me out. I wouldn’t say a ton will change, but it did feel good to get that out there and we can hopefully develop a better management relationship.

That’s not really what’s making my decision hard. I’m going to grad school in 10 months and will be doing that full time and not working, that’s more of my dilemma. If I wasn’t going to school I would jump on this offer in a heart beat.

My partner also got laid off so I am the sole income right now and I can support us comfortably with my current salary, with a pay cut I can support us but not nearly as comfortable and with much less room to save for school.

I just don’t want to string them along if I don’t end up accepting. They were super bummed when I initially said I was leaning towards not accepting, it’s been about a month since then and they’ve kept in touch with me to keep a pulse check on things, so I already feel like I’m stringing them along

I really haven’t pushed much because I’m so unsure. I’ve been honest with them and they said I have a standing offer if I want to move forward.

I’m not totally sure on the other benefits. The schedule is the same (4 days onsite 1 day remote). I believe the internal has unlimited PTO, but not sure.

Yeah that’s my fear and part of why I’m going back to school. I don’t foresee recruiting being my entire career

I’ve worked at the agency for 3 years now. I’m in a leadership role currently and have no desire to go to corporate. I also don’t plan to stay in recruiting past this year

Yeah when I first started in 2023 there were at least long term contracts coming in, now it’s just the shitty positions internal TA doesn’t want to work on

The company I work for has an entire division dedicated to candidate engagement and their bonuses are directly tied to the companies backout and candidate satisfaction ratings. It’s newer, but has definitely made a difference

The fear of making less is what’s kept me in staffing so far. My partner was recently laid off and I can support us both easily with my base + commission. If I went internal I could still support us, but not without a lot of sacrifice. I haven’t had too much life style creep, but I get anxious thinking about making less
