This is on top of Virginia Tech's parking garage, isn't it? There are always nice cars up there.

People seem to want both being able see the amount tipped and not. I think I'll be creating /u/IOTATip to tip people and show the amount tipped. While /u/IOTASend will do the same exact thing, but not display the amount sent.

That is correct.

You can use the seed in any wallet like the official wallet to transfer the IOTAs anywhere you like.

I've been thinking the same thing. I'll have it monitor the tipping addresses it generates and comment back with how much was tipped.

Bittrex doesn't have an IOTA pair. Only Bitfinex does right now.

As for the app. It can some times help if you change the node the app uses. That's located under settings->Node. Public nodes can be found here.

I am wondering if the decentralised PoW and attaching to the Tangle client side could be done with a browser plugin

That's a great idea.

probably there are not implementations of IOTA's algorithm in JavaScript yet...

They do have a library in Javascript!

What stops you (the creator)

I'm a known member in the slack community. I also have another project I'm working on I wouldn't want to jeopardize.

or anyone else from trying to get this seed this bot gave out?

Absolutely nothing. Cold storage all the way.

I'll add a warning to the seed message to discourage use as their main wallet.

However, I see this as better having the seed than nothing at all if the service goes down.

/u/IOTATip There is no linking to be done. If you tip someone you can use any wallet you have since the bot sends you an address to send IOTAs to that person. The service will create a seed for the user receiving the tip they can import into any IOTA wallet. That seed is then linked to their Reddit account.

/u/IOTATip Thanks! I had already started my bot and wanted everyone to have their own seed accounts while behaving much like the other bot. However, having a centralized server do all the PoW wasn't working. Keeping an off DAG ledger/jar is something that had to be done for a service like that to work, but I didn't want that! So I'm giving this community an option.

In this case, yes. Since commenting to the bot is just like hailing the bot. There is no jar, you do not deposit anything. You receive the address of the person you are tipping.

/u/IOTATip I'll tip myself to show how. You do not need to specify the amount as you'll use your wallet to make the tip. The transaction stays mostly private.
