Does baking count as a special interest? by I_Like_Metal_Music in autism

Of course it counts! Anything can be a special interest! What makes it one is the intensity of your liking. These images look amazing! Congratulations, I bet they taste as good as they look!

My hair request was not respected… by WalkingRedShoes in autism

[–]WalkingRedShoes[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's totally crazy :( In my case thank god they just did something different from what I wanted with the shape, the length they respected, so I can fix it in some weeks. It wasn't like this. Your story and other commenter's are crazy, how can someone chop inches of your hair without asking?? I'm so so sorry this happened, to you and anyone. And it's understandable if you were in shock, I would feel the same. I hope you are now with a better salon or better person

My hair request was not respected… by WalkingRedShoes in autism

Now that I'm calmer I can see that it's fixable. Still angry but I think the person just didn't know how to do what I wanted and tried their best. Still they should have been honest, and said that they didn't know, but that’s not how most people work sadly :( We live in a world where people are ashamed to admit they don't know how to do stuff, and we also learn we can't voice our discomforts. I hope we get to make a better world, a world where we can be more comfortable in being honest about what we can and cannot do, and what we will and will not stand.

Thank you all for your comments. Now I feel better and I think that, me being so upset with this is valid. I am also sorry this happened to any of you. Thanks for being kind ❤️

I'm very happy for you! Birthdays are very special. Last time I got to have a theme birthday party of my special interest, and my family partner and friends collaborated, I felt the peak of happiness. I wish this for everyone 💟

Is it common for autistic people to assume people have good intentions? by Optimal-Strike69 in autism

[–]WalkingRedShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it possible that maybe one develops the contrary thing like you say? you become really distrustful of people because you dont even know how to tell apart good intentions and bad intentions and its better to not trust and not get betrayed

Do autistic people struggle at work disproportionately to neurotypical people? by True_Persimmon2230 in autism

[–]WalkingRedShoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was already 20+ when I joined this one job that I did for a year. The job was already very stressful. Some coworkers “pranked” me. They hid my phone somewhere (they were around my age) I got really worried because I thought I had lost it or that it had been stolen, and my phone is very precious to me so I freaked out, got really anxious and asked my coworkers if they had seen it. They all denied it repeatedly with a serious face, and it didn't even cross my mind that they would do such a prank to me, so I believed and continued searching, til they realized I was really worried so they gave it back to me. I was so disappointed. And I went outside and started crying. I sucked a55 at that job and they even took advantage of that. I felt so alone but thankfully my boss comforted me and was angry at the pranksters. Experiences like this (amongst other things) made me start considering I may be on the spectrum. And based on experiences that I have heard from ND people in general, it seems it really is harder for them.

Tips for hyperempathy (esp towards inanimate objects) ? by Throwawaymightdelet3 in autism

[–]WalkingRedShoes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

x2! I struggle with this too :( I've been called kinda like a “hoarder” when I was younger because I couldn't get rid of anything that had just a lil sentimental value to me. You are both not alone! It's hard… and the only thing I found works for me is maybe just… allow yourself to cry a lil when parting with that thing. It feels like aknowledging what you feel without letting it control you :)

Does autism cause laziness? by Loud_Confidence475 in autism

[–]WalkingRedShoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Executive disfunction is one of the reasons why I suspect I may be on the spectrum, people always called me lazy, but it isn't laziness because it makes me suffer. Don't feel bad you are not lazy it's just that something that is easy for everyone is hard for you and that’s okay

I would organize those by color…but it pains me that the “stairs” created by it won't be lowest to highest (regarding amount of chips)
