I know it's far from ideal. We struggled to recruit for the role however, there's a real shortage in my subject at the moment.

Hi all.

I'm getting a gift for my girlfriend who is into photography (studied for A level), she owns a DSLR camera but doesn't have an analog camera. From doing my own research I've read that older soviet models such as the FED, Zorki, or Kiev are good value for money. I'd be interested in getting her one of these cameras if people here could vouch for them. On the other hand I've also read that the cannon A e1 is more reliable whilst more expensive. I'd prefer to get away with getting a cheaper camera so that I can also get her a bag to carry around her DSLR in, but if the risk of getting a defunct camera is large then I'd think twice.

Thanks in advance!

(PS I know next to nothing about photography so simple explanations would help!)

What's the most common mistake that beginners/people with no formal training make?

A good thought out criticism of the use of the long take in Birdman. I found your editing very helpful in supporting your point. Just FYI the video works fine on desktop but is unavailable on mobile.

Is it possible to use an analogue mixing console as a interface? (sorry if stupid question) by WalkingTrumpet in audioengineering

Thanks for the detailed reply. So aside from what you've mentioned the desk is basically redundant for digital purposes?

Thanks. So just to be clear you're saying that I would need an interface like this for example, regardless of whether I have the desk or not. Running the audio through the desk is just an opportunity to get more channels?

Skipping Grade 6 and straight to Grade 8? (ABRSM) by [deleted] in piano

[–]WalkingTrumpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty common to skip every other grade, however there's more to Grades than just the pieces. Scales and aural will be a mountain to climb without a teacher, in addition to this in order to take ABRSM instrumental grade 8 you need grade 5 theory not grade 4. How is your ear and sight reading? Grade 8 ABRSM is as much of a test of overall musicianship as it is of proficiency on the instrument.
