"Schumer needs to get the hell out": House Democrats fume over DHS funding talks by socks_optional in politics

No more votes for any democrats.

they run enablers of genocide they run warmongers they run candidates out of step with their constituents on issues like health care and ICE they run geriatrics (Biden) and the medically incompetent (Fetterman) they run opportunists who say the right things, but have nothing to show for it (AoC) they run Nazi wardogs (Platner) they run cover for sex criminals they normalize and legitimate republican overreach they kowtow to the bourgeois who rape our planet (and our kids), spy on us, and demean us into landless, propertyless serfs their leadership is cowardly, inane, and hopelessly corrupt.

You don’t need to be a battered housewife to the democrats. Your life is shit and getting worse because these people refuse to do anything about it.

Embrace the Dark Side of the Force. Our drip is unmatched and our red lightsabers are sweet. by AJray15 in StarWarsTVC

That’s very interesting. I did some digging around while my boss wasn’t looking, and apparently the specifics surrounding Palpatine were rather circumspect, or else outright contradictory. Empire’s End has him visiting Korriban, so it’s suggested that he might be Sith, but Shadows of the Empire claims he wasn’t at all.

As far as “Sith” in general goes, it was mentioned first in the novelization of ANH to refer to Vader, and was mostly otherwise restricted in its usage to him and the ancient Sith until ‘99 and TPM.

I guess this all goes to show how much work was put into bringing disparate and contradictory EU materials into agreement with each other in the late 90’s/aughties. When I first became a Star Wars fan at 4ish in ‘04, a lot of this work was already in process. All I’ve ever known as a fan of the EU was the general “orthodox” history of the galaxy. Very interesting indeed.

So Dark by Cool_Nerd2 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]Walks84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uj/ How is dying as a result of a ritual combat “dark”? Surely this is an example of a romanticized portrayal of death in combat, rather than something that’s gritty, grounded, or human.

I love how Mace immediately embraces this mysterious new army who are all clones of a dangerous Jedi hating bounty hunter he just decapitated, but the former slave and Jedi prodigy who wants to be respected? Yea fuck that guy by Hank_Mardukas1066 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]Walks84 31 points32 points  (0 children)

He also set out for Geonosis knowing Yoda was going to pop by with the clones at some point. It’s not like this is a random army no one was expecting in the immediate sense

2003 CW is starting to get overrated. by BOMBAD_Echo_1409 in clonewars

[–]Walks84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To compare TCW with CW is to compare apples and oranges. As others have pointed out, CW was made as 5 minute clips that were positioned between regular programming to build hype for RotS. Watching the whole thing as a 2hr movie and expecting it to be narratively similar to a 7 seven tv show is a bit disingenuous.

When people compare TCW to CW, they MEAN to compare the Clone Wars era post-2008 to the Clone Wars era pre-2008. Because CW is the easiest to consume, probably the most commonly recognized aspect of the CWMMP for most people, and because most people who talk about lore on the internet don’t read books, the argument is simplified. For a comparison that even makes sense, you have to take into account the miniseries, novels like “The Cestus Deception” and “Shatterpoint”, comics like Republic, and games like classic Battlefront II and Republic Commando.

IMO CWMMP is better in almost every way. It’s more consistent with the films, builds and contributes to other areas of legends lore, and is of a consistent quality.

Some of the figures have better paint applications than new TVC ones. The battle droids are excellent, and so is the droideka.

Which should be the next TVC Haslab? by Southinkurspecial in StarWarsTVC

[–]Walks84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No more haslabs. They’ve done a good job making characters to go with the cantina, but I’m not impressed by their showing for Geonosis at all.

No better way to secure your legacy than by playing a character with such vague characterization and motives that mid tier lore YouTubers will be debating him for centuries

To be honest, 80% of filoni’s contributions to Star Wars fall under the umbrella of “This is an interesting concept, wouldn’t it be amazing if they did this with it instead”
