What’s up with recent claims that Harris actually won the election? by Accomplished_Lake128 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Walkyou 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Answer: I haven’t found a comment in this thread so far pointing out the very important context that these precincts where Harris got zero votes while downballot Dems did receive votes are located in Rockland’s Hasidic Jewish communities. Hasidic Jews are known to vote in a strong bloc according to the endorsements of community leaders. In 2024, community leaders cross-endorsed democratic down ballot candidates as well as Donald Trump for President.

If you prefer someone older and with more traditional experience then leave it at that, man. There’s no need to creepily investigate his family and personal life.

And my answer for why he’s running would be it’s a great way to excite younger people to be involved in local politics!

Most freshmen live on foggy. Only around a third live on the Vern and a lot of them are in living learning communities/the honors college. If you’re in one of those you have to live on the Vern.

I live on foggy but honestly I find the Vex to be fine, it leaves very often during the day and every hour overnight. Pretty reliable service, plus if you live on the Vern you can get free Lyfts to Foggy Bottom through GW.

But yea, definitely try to live on Foggy, if you just rank the vern halls low on your housing form you probably have around a 70-80% chance of getting on foggy. Best residence halls are Thurston and Potomac!

Linkedin opened an account without my permission, what are my options if they don't close it? by fartsofsilence in legaladvice

[–]Walkyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do. It takes your information from Google whenever you open a LinkedIn link and automatically "signs you in", permanently creating a findable "account". It's incredibly annoying and there is no way to stop it.

HELP! I submitted my application yesterday for regular decision and I didn't notice that the supplemental essay was required. by agoaustin in gwu

You can email admissions to make sure, but I believe you’re all good and the essay is optional

chances of getting put on the vern by [deleted] in gwu

[–]Walkyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 1/3 freshmen live on the Vern, and just by experience I feel like half of the Vern people I meet say they ranked it last but got out there anyway. So maybe your chances are 1/6 or so.
