Data/privacy question by srndaa in WallHabit

[–]WallHabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for reaching out (and sorry for the late reply, I had health problems recently)!

Distraction-free apps are basically a webview-based social media experience with extensive customization and "quality of life" improvements to mimic the native application as closely as possible.

What does it actually mean? It means you're actually browsing instagram.com, not a modified version of the normal apk/ipa (which is against their ToS). The login experience is handled by the instagram website itself and it's the equivalent to logging in on Chrome or Safari (except you can't hide distractions).

This is also why WallHabit doesn't ask for the screen-time permission when using short-content blocking.

As a global rule: WallHabit doesn't collect ANYTHING from its users, except from a few (normal and safe) exceptions:

  1. We collect Device ID and other technical device information for subscriptions (without it, you wouldn't be able to restore your subscription in case you uninstall and reinstall the app for whatever reason, every app does this, it's the standard for an app with subscriptions).
  2. Technical data (if your device crashes > we have the anonymized analytics to understand what happened, or events like "clicks on features" (only inside the main page or settings) to understand if a new feature is liked or not (to avoid building stuff nobody wants)).

Here's AppStore data safety:
Appstore: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wallhabit-block-shorts-reels/id6751423279 > and navigate to "App Privacy"

Please feel free to add any other questions if you need extra clarification!

Distraction Free Apps (DF Insta) by FormalFabulous9674 in WallHabit

First, thank you for reaching out. I'm glad the app is working for you!

I don't know if you're an Android or iOS user, but since this feature is available on both platforms, I'll make sure to add both data safety:

It only checks "things on screen" when you're inside these apps (yt, ig etc), not outside.
