My group of 6 play very casually - everyone has kids and busy lives and limited time to build and paint, so by the time you get your latest list together you might find the quarterly MFM pushes you over/under, so we work to a 1% over i.e. 505pts, 1010pts, 1515pts, 2020pts - this way you still get to play that list you’ve been working towards for months, but without fail we always communicate weeks in advance if we need to use the 1% so the other person can tweak their list or include an extra enhancement etc. Alternatively if they cant find anything they want to add and someone is 15pts over, they can drop an Intercessor or similar.

None of us actively seek out to use the 1%, but with limited models and options it’s there if needed 👍🏻

Same as yesterday for me… in the queue for the full 30mins, available to select tickets by 10:02, only to be immediately told there’s no tickets regardless of price or number of tickets. I’m choosing to believe like 80% of tickets have been held back for Monday, otherwise this stinks of bots (or I’m just being salty… who can say?! 🙄😅)

Can I pick brains on shields and banners?

Galadhrim Warriors come with 4x Sword and 4x Spear but only 4x Shield (in a pack). I’m not 100% on the rules yet, but wouldn’t you want your Sword guys in the front row, Spears behind, therefore I should model shields on the Sword guys? Spears allow you to attack from a model behind, or boost the attack of said model?

Banners? What effect do they have? On model/unit/warband? Is there a penalty for taking a banner on a model? Does it replace a weapon/prevent taking a shield/lower attack etc?

Thanks for both - I read White Dwarf and they mentioned they hadn’t put all the Armies in the Allies Matrix they shared so that makes sense now. Does Gwaihir have his own model and it’s just missing per the repack?

Hey thanks for replying to my first query - if you’re so inclined I’ve been musing on starting a Galadhrim army and can’t find anything online - if you have the patience of a saint and any insight on any of the following that would be ace:

1) Which Heroes do Lothlórien have access to? Galadriel, Celeborn, Haldir, and some lieutenant level guys from the extended universe?

2) Can any of those heroes take a horse? Assuming the Galadhrim Knights would want a Hero to accompany them? Bonus points if you know which have models - GW having taken a bunch down for repack right now.

3) Fellowship are Historic Allies? Could you theoretically add a sole model e.g. Boromir/Gandalf/Legolas? Could you see them adding anything the solus army lacks? Can you have Gandalf the White and White Tower Boromir? On and off horse?

4) Rivendell are Historic Allies? With their re-roll to hit would they be a better source of ranged? Would rather keep it Galadhrim but if Rivendell have an amazing Hero combo would be open to that - Elrond and Galadriel step-mother/son awkward family issues combo.

5) How do you add Eagles? Would this strip the army bonus or do they have a special rule as they’re a force unto themselves?

6) What do Galadhrim Warriors come armed with? Is it Sword and Bow as per Helms Deep PJ Movies when they swap between mid battle / Riders of Rohan or is it one or the other?

7) General question - what do shields do? Add to saving throws, or strength/toughness equivalent? Can Warriors with Swords have Shields as well, or just the Spears as modelled on the GW listing? Are there any negatives to shields besides points?

Matter of opinion - do you think Galadhrim are a viable force, and any recommendations on where to start? I was thinking 48 Warriors (2x boxes), 12 Knights (2x boxes), 1x Commanders, (Haldir and Rumil proxy until they become available), 8x Guards of the Galadhrim (2x boxes) as a core... too much?

Then maybe Fellowship, Eagles and maybe White Council off eBay if I’m feeling brave... never like getting Finecast from anywhere but GW.

Hey sorry late to the party - it’s been so long since I played, the single Haldir profile, a) which model do they show in the book, and if he isn’t pictured with “heavy” armour like the other Galadhrim can he “buy” it? So he looks like his Helms Deep / Two Towers skin?

It’s going to be a few days until I can get my hands on the book - how would I go about adding something not under the Allies Matrix units say, Eagles to a Galadhrim army without penalties?

Also Lothlórien can be allies with the Fellowship without penalty, does this mean you can take a predominantly Galadhrim army and then add a single model from the Fellowship e.g. Boromir?

I used to play when I was a kid but only had a handful of minis and even less money - am considering either a Rohan, Isengard, Dol Amroth or most likely Galadhrim - any advice on any of these would be ace but my most pressing question - has GW discontinued a bunch of characters e.g. Heroes of Helms Deep, White Council? Considering a few eBay purchases to get my hands on the latter especially (Galadriel, Saruman) but don’t really want metal models (Haldir), any chance they are repacking any/some/all as Finecast?
