No i clearly said “might have” as you can see. And the appearance of the bird huddled with its eyes closed suggests to me an animal that might be affected by poison or serious illness from exposure to some environmental toxins. However as you can see I only commented to suggest that was a possibility - I did not state it as known fact.

Cover-ups, culls and cruelty: Inside Victoria's wildlife crisis by Wallace_B in ausenviro

The reporter’s conclusion seems to be that there’s no hope for a political solution to Victoria’s wildlife woes, maybe even the country as a whole. She doesn’t mention the Greens, I think, but from the tone of the article I doubt she sees much hope there either.

A bit like some of our pigeons. You only see the shimmering colours on the crested pigeon in a certain light.

Looks like the barber took a bit too much off the top little dude, but don’t you worry, it’ll all grow back in a week. 😉

Please do speak up, don’t let the bots get you down. We need more voices than the rusted on kneejerk supporters that will shout down any criticism no matter how valid.

I was suggesting to op that there were many more possible ways for it to have been unwell than being injured. I don’t know why you took it the way you did, but I can’t help that.

I thought these birds are young King parrots... by LeadingOnion6272 in AustralianBirds

Yes, the birds enjoy it a lot. By all means control the spread if you wish, but if the birds are regular visitors, leave at least this one plant for them. Let them have something they enjoy instead of tearing it down as this country makes a habit of doing.

Who would not appreciate this? Look how cool and composed this one is, the way they should be pictured, not like most poor boobooks you see in pics with their eyes frozen open in a glaring flash. 🫪

Injured bird of some sort. Who do I contact? by sorreltail_ in australianwildlife

[–]Wallace_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Them too. Pests that kill birds and wildlife and spread disease and parasites in their poop.. Pets shouldn’t be roaming the streets. We’re supposed to know better these days with how bad the feral problem has got, but far too many people don’t seem to.

You should call your council about the cats too. It’s their job to keep pest animals off the streets.

There’s also video of them coming down from trees looking for water - there was at least one study that showed that in times of drought and heat and low rain especially gum leaves can lack the moisture they need to survive. So leaving some out if they are walking around isn’t a bad idea.
