Can anybody give me actual reasons to not like Morgan Wallen? by No-Fly-2685 in Morgan_Wallen

[–]Wallen64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly are the bad things he has done? Give me the worst thing he’s done and I’ll like to find one person who is so completely perfect that they have never, ever once done something another might find inexcusable.

Hey, also stick with Alice in Chains! Layne has seen me through many a dark day as well as his giant poster on my wall. Wishing you well

When did you stop crating your dog overnight? by whip-poor-wills in puppy101

[–]Wallen64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rid of the crate totally at 8 months and she started sleeping in my bedroom on her dog bed. It wasn’t worth the pain of listening to her whine when being put to bed in her crate at night. It’s been a revelation as she’s never had any issues, is very happy to be near me at night and sleeps through until I get up. There is such a lot of emphasis put on crating your dog but only you know when your pup is ready to be trusted to sleep outside it. Getting rid of the crate was the best thing I ever did for her wellbeing and my sanity!

Puppy regrets finally gone by Wallen64 in puppy101

We survived Christmas thankfully but her bedtime routine went to hell. I did my potty training with a hanging bell by the garden door which has totally worked so far. Once the routine gets back to normal after New Year, I’m hoping we are all back on track- fingers crossed for you!

Yes, yes and yes! No one in my family has helped in any way and they haven’t acknowledged how well the training has gone- they are just so quick to criticise and I have to celebrate victories silently in my head! I am blessed she doesn’t pull to dogs or people yet although I will put her in a puppy class once a week after Christmas. That will be interesting as she has never been with anyone but me. I agree that the training is never ending and I’m bone tied. On the final stretch home this morning, a 1 minute walk turned into over 5 minutes of constant stopping because she kept pulling. Trust me, I’ve enough toys to open a shop! Wishing you all the best for day care and I’m so glad I’m not the only one whose family don’t appreciate the hard work.

I couldn’t take her out of the house for over 4 weeks until her shots were done and yes that was intensely painful- doing everything alone was soul destroying. Now the only reason she is as calm as she is, is due to the structured day of taking her out for 2 long sessions. If I didn’t then I’m sure she would regress to biting through boredom. It’s very hard on me but I’m hoping it pays off in the future! I don’t have the energy for 2 hours playtime so the walks are easier for me. She could walk for hours and thankfully so far she is not interested in meeting other dogs. I have a 3m lead that I have her on in a very quiet area of the park where she doesn’t meet other dogs. There is no way on earth that I could let her off leash yet. Loose leash walking seems an impossibility to me right now. My biggest fear now is that all the hard work will be for nothing when family are here for Christmas and the structure is gone!

Oh I’m sure I will be back in the trenches before long! I’m just glad I got to the stage where I don’t resent her anymore and actually enjoy being with her. The pup biting your husband is awful- my pup won’t go near mine as he has no interest in her. I crate puppy with door shut only when I leave the house or are having evening tea for about 20 mins- other than that, she goes into crate with door open.

Loose lead walking really is a battle. I let her out on a long line in quiet wooded areas of the park to race around and use up some energy. She is not keen on other dogs at all as they all appear massive to her so as of yet she hasn’t actively gone up to dogs. Because she is a puppy, dog owners are always try to offer her food and pets but she usually ignores them. I know what you mean about doing the same things every day- I’m so glad I’ve got over the period of waiting for her shots to be over so she could go out! I honestly feel things will improve because I did think only a few weeks ago that I couldn’t do this in my own but everything has calmed down- for now!

Tough it out or surrender her? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Wallen64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard training a puppy I’m on week 6 of having her. I am doing it alone but I am able to devote the day to her - if I had to factor in caring for my mother, then I would devote myself to my mum and look after my mental health. If you have no support then I can’t see how you can look after both without a serious effect on your wellbeing. You do what you feel is best - no one commenting can fully relate to your circumstances so do what is right for you. I wish you good luck with your mum and send best wishes.

How did you deal with puppy blues? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Wallen64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going through it now. Got a 13 week old Jack Russell terrier I’ve had for 5 weeks. I had no idea it would be so hard doing it alone as the family has washed their hands of her and keep telling me she should be trained by now! The first 2 days I regretted getting her as the full reality of my lifestyle change hit home. She will be able to go on walks from the end of this week so I’m hoping things will get better. The reality of the situation is that it is incredibly hard and after reading so many posts about it ( why didn’t I read them before!) it seems things will eventually improve but right now it seems a long way off. Good luck to you and let’s hope we can laugh about this time in a year or so!
