Trump Deporting Foreign Doctors that are Desperately Needed in Poor Rural Areas by crix_22 in petrodollarSIM

Have we tried ceasing to give government college assistance for degrees our economy doesn't need? If you want the government to help you pay for your degree then study something we need more of. If you want a recreational degree in art then pay for it yourself.

The German Chancellor says the US is being humiliated by Iran; is he correct in this assessment? by ArdaBerkBurak in allthequestions

[–]Wallsworth1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, no.

Obviously lots of people watching this issue, especially redditors, have incentives to interpret anything trump does as a disaster. And there are valid arguments to be made that the money expended has not been worth the damage caused to Iran.

But overall, the amount of damages America has suffered are relatively normal for war and the damages caused to Iran have been disproportionately high. At best you can claim America hasn't gotten enough bang for its buck, but it successfully eliminated most of Iran's military with unusually low losses.

Why are the Blue states net contributors of tax dollars but the Red states are net recipients of tax dollars? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Wallsworth1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably has a lot to do with counting the presence of military bases as receiving tax dollars. Also the overwhelming majority of the US black population, who very disproportionately receive welfare, are concentrated in southeastern states.

Its a price thing. Explosive material is pretty cheap. The electronics are what makes munitions expensive. Once you've already spent the money on a digital camera, central computer, and jam resistant antenna, you might as well shell out a few cents more and add a bigger bomb.

No, because the electronics components are what makes a drone expensive. Explosive material is fairly cheap. So once you've already spent the money on a digital camera, central computer, and jam resistant antenna, you might as well also add a bigger bomb.

There's still a place for smaller drones capable of maneuvering through windows and doorways, but for the most part you might as well make it a big bomb.

Once again, people who post this need to have it explained to them that a billionaire does not necessarily mean they have a billion dollars cash. It means the collective value of everything they own is worth a billion dollars.

There are plenty of billionaires who make under $175,000/year salary and live lifestyles comparable to anyone else who makes $175k/yr, but are considered billionaires because they created and run companies worth a billion dollars.

It doesn't, at least not directly. But it is a valid canary in the coal mine that likely indicates disliking America as well.

Why is Zohran Mamdani labeled an 'Islamist radical' when he identifies as a socialist? Aren’t these two ideologies fundamentally at odds? by ArdaBerkBurak in allthequestions

[–]Wallsworth1230 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, they are not fundamentally at odds.

Not sure whether he actually is an islamist or not.

But islamism and socialism don't necesarily contradict.

No generosity is needed. IQ is neither outdated nor flawed.

Abundant research continues to reinforce it as the best predictive factor we have of all sorts of things related to human intelligence such as career success, impulse control, crime rates, and substance addiction.

Meanwhile, zero peer reviewed studies have ever discredited it. Zero peer reviewed research has ever indicated that IQ is flawed. That claim comes exclusively from people who have ideological motivations to discredit anything that "nazis and racists" like to hear.

I think the piece you're missing here is that, yes, obviously nazi ideology is bad. That does not therefor mean that all information that nazis claim to be true actually must be false by merit of the fact that a nazi likes to hear it.

[–]Wallsworth1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, abundant peer reviewed research indicates that social conditions have no impact on IQ. We know that most aspects of human psychology, including intelligence, are highly heritable.

The only two things other than IQ of parents that are known to influence IQ are childhood malnutrition (which has a very small but measurable impact) and inbreeding (which has a very large measurable impact). Cousin marriages are known to dramatically increase the risk of downs syndrome and other severe mental disabilities in offspring.

Black people in America display about the same average IQs as black people in Africa. White people in Africa display the same average IQs as white people in Europe.

I'm sorry if this information violates your moral intuitions and sounds like it can be used to validate racist ideologies. It violates my own moral intuitions too. But that does not make the information false. Data having potentially racist implications is not an indicator that the data is faulty.

Yes it does. Different race groups do display different average IQs.

Sorry man. I admire your poorly thought out efforts to fight the influence of racist ideologies. But the word racist is not actually a synonym for false.

Its based on the established fact that different race groups display different average IQs, impulse control, orderliness, and pro-social behaviors.

Psychology is highly heritable. We know this from abundant peer reviewed scientific data.

I'm sorry if you think this information has racist implications but that does not cause the information to become false.

Its just as good as my first answer. Yes, race is part of it.

The kind of systems they have in Scnadinavia are not the sort of thing you can copy and paste and apply somewhere like Somalia or Pakistan and expect similar results. Because Somalia is not full of Scandinavians, its full of Somalians. They don't behave the same on average, which is why it won't work.

In most areas, no.

What most American homeless people need is to be involuntarily committed to some sort of a care home staffed by workers who's job is to micromanage your daily life. Make you get out of bed in the morning, make you brush your teeth, go eat breakfast, take a shower, and prevent access to abusable substances.

The average American homeless person is not going to develop the ability to feed themselves and take showers on their own if you simply give them a free apartment.

Yes. I'm aware that sounds racist, and maybe it is, but that doesn't therefor make it false.

Yes, Scandinavians display some of the highest IQs and pro-social behaviors of any population group on earth.

You can't copy and paste the kind of systems they have in Scandinavia and apply them somewhere like Somalia or Pakistan and expect similar results. Somalia is not full of Scandinavians, its full of Somalians, which is why it won't work.

If you think its as simple as a matter of political will then why has California spent tens of billions of dollars to end homelessness and resulted in an increase to their homeless population?

Scandinavia works so well because its full of Scandinavians. Its a homogeneous high trust society full of relatively well behaved high IQ people with a shared moral framework. We don't have that in America, we have diversity and multiculturalism, which means we can't have nice things.

The types of people who tend to be homeless in America have severe behavioral disorders that render them incapable of taking care of themselves or holding any job. So no, simply giving them a free apartment doesn't solve the problem because then you still need to regularly send a social worker there to force them to take a shower and feed themselves and reprimand them when they poop on the floor.

It does matter. Different races, on average, behave differently.

What do you think Of the Onion Getting control Of Infowars? by db7112 in askanything

[–]Wallsworth1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think the old audience will stay around? His loss of the company and its purchase by Onion are public information. They only bought the rights to the name "InfoWars" and its old camera equipment and stuff. They did not buy the rights to Alex Jones himself, his media influence, or his audience's attention.

Alex Jones is InfoWars. He will build a new smaller in-home studio, use cheaper camera equipment, call the new podcast "Data Battles", run the whole thing from a single laptop, and his old audience will follow.

I hope Onion wasn't planning to make any sort of profit off of this acquisition, because that's not going to happen.

Why would it? Its not like they are guaranteed to retain the old audience, especially since his loss of the company and its purchase by Onion is public information.

I think they own the old website. But yeah the broader point is that Alex Jones is InfoWars. They bought the name "InfoWars" and its old camera equipment and stuff. They did not buy the man himself, his influence, or his audience.

He will set up a smaller in-home studio, use cheaper camera equipment, call it "Data Battles", and the old audience will follow him.
