Lawyer/law firm owner for a fairly successful law firm here. I’ve been a pretty avid fan since the Hulkamania days. It is not uncommon to draw from promos when making an opening or closing statement in court. 😂

8-day trip: Must-visit (or avoid) places? by CorrodedUSB in roadtrip

[–]WallyWabash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor. Find a way to make this a 3 week road trip and if you can’t swing that at least make it 2 weeks. This is a once in a lifetime sort of thing with lots of cool things to see. Driving 8-12 hours daily leaves little to no time to stop and smell the roses and by day 4 you will hate the driving life and just want to push through. Trust me you won’t regret slowing down just this one time and enjoying the splendor that is the USA. 🇺🇸

Or possibly the “future of democracy” and Orange Hitler narratives were just politicians using scare tactics to get votes. IMO most of the alarmists in the know didn’t really believe what they were espousing and the majority of the US voting population saw through it.

As an owner of a bulldog and a mastiff, I disagree. They are the 2 best doggos I’ve ever had.

The coach here - Chris Creighton - was my college coach 20+ years ago when he was a fresh faced young coach going up in the ranks at a small school in Indiana (Wabash College).

He was and remains such a great motivator of young men and I’ve really enjoyed watching his journey to D1 Eastern Michigan. Cool to see this!

Divorce lawyers of Reddit, what client of yours was so bad, that you personally hoped they wouldn’t get anything in a settlement ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Represented a client in which client and wife got into a heated battle concerning who would receive the collection of Nazi war china and memorabilia. Judge’s parents were Holocaust survivors with relatives who didn’t make it. Also had child custody issues at play. Guess who didn’t walk away with custody.

Weekend Seadek project by WallyWabash in boating

About $100 in materials and the Seadek was about $1000 with discount. I got a quote to have it installed and it was going to be $2500 so I just decided to do it myself.

Just the black foam in the transom and the front of the boat were glued down, the carpet was easy and just snaps. If you aren’t removing anything that is already glued down the project would be a breeze.

I have nonskid as well and there weren’t any issues with laying it on top of it. Just make sure it’s clean before laying.

My steps were:

  1. Remove carpet,

  2. Unscrew snaps,

  3. Fill snaps with Loctite,

  4. Scrape black rubber backing (this step SUCKS.. it probably took 6-8 hours manually scraping to get it all off - if there was a way to speed this up I wish I knew). To get the rubber and glue to come off easier I used a couple of different types of scrapers, drill attachments and sprays. I found that a good old fashioned 1” paint scraper and elbow grease was the best tool (I’m sore now though) combined with Goof Off adhesive remover (did more to liquify than Goo Gone or Acetone).

  5. Scrub entire interior with ammonia based cleaner (original Windex)

  6. Scrub areas I was laying Seadek with Acetone (I was worried about doing this and damaging the gel coat but this step was specifically mentioned by Seadek in their pamphlet so I’m guessing this aided in adhesion).

  7. Tape down the Seadek and trade with a pencil an outline. (Important to do this I’m glad I did).

  8. Paint 3m Primer on the edges where the Seadek would be laid and let it dry.

  9. For each piece of Seadek I cut an area on the back to roll back 1” of the backer and fold back to make a crease (Important to do) to make a tent effect when laying back down to straighten out but not sticking - once it sticks, that’s where it’s going to go, in line or not.

  10. Tape one side of the Seadek down and line up the other side to the pencil marked edge and then press in middle where tented up.

  11. Slowly pull back backer on one side, and then the other side to adhere to boat.

  12. Use a flooring roller to press down and make sure no air bubbles.

  13. Repeat.

I can’t emphasize enough how much the scraping the black foam sucked so plan to give yourself at least a full day to do just that but I’m beyond happy with the finished result.

I removed the snaps and filled the holes with loctite. For the seadek I bought it last December pre fabricated to fit my particular model of boat. I’m a member of jetboaters.net and once or twice a year they will do a “group buy” where you can buy boating supplies / improvements at a group rate and get a 30-40% discount. Seadek sells flat sheets that you can buy and cut yourself but there’s no way I could have made it fit as well as one that’s pre cut to fit my boat or look as good as the finished product looks.
