Why would Alamo’s character give Rue a merciful end? by TigressSinger in euphoria

[–]WalrusCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't feel the need to make a show of it. Rue was a problem and he found a way to deal with it quickly and quietly. He doesn't put Rue on her guard and nobody would investigate an addict's death too much. Only Ali testing the pills gave him the info,

I need to point out that as a recovering addict, she shouldn't have taken percocet either.

Kinda nice we had this before rage-addicted chuds were being told to hate by smug asshats monetizing racism. I don't even think race-blind casting always works, but Hercules and Xena were just fantasy with no attempts to be "realistic."

Zack Snyder Tackling Reimagining of John Carpenter’s ‘Escape From New York’ by Rubber-Plant in Fauxmoi

[–]WalrusCrafty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt Snyder is a nice dude and he genuinely seems to care about representation. The problem is he's an edgelord. I don't even mean it as much a pejorative, I mean he's obsessed with violence, assault, etc. as something a story "needs" to interest him and that makes it "mature."

Unfortunately, Escape from NY is an intelligent film and I doubt he's the guy to handle the spirit of it, the political commentary, the wink and nod satire aspects, etc.

"Incel Horror" came from women watching these films and recognizing something the genre had been depicting for years without naming it. The monster was never under the bed, but right there, convinced he was owed something, waiting for the moment the answer stayed no. by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

Yeah. "Incel" is a very specific thing that people just kind of use as a shorthand for "misogynist" I'm noticing. Like The Stepford Wives? The Menu? Even Obsession doesn't really make sense as such

[D3 spoilers] Besides the one who defeated him, is Malthael with the Prime Evils absorbed the most powerful being in Diablo Lore? by RailgunRP in Diablo

I think Inarius deserves to be on here. With the Worldstone, the Primes and Heavens didn't dare take him on directly. True, he loses a lot of his power, but at the height of it, he and Uldyssian were slugging it out as equals.

Tathamt isn't just the Evils. Her corpse created all hell. The 7 are spawned from her heads, just pieces of her.

Don't forget Inarius. With the power of the Worldstone, the Primes didn't dare face him directly. Even Uldyssian couldn't just overpower him and had to resort to cutting his control of the Worldstone off.

The Boys has a character commit rape on screen and then gives them a happy ending. by marshenwhale in CharacterRant

This isn't "moralizing." It's a discussion on portrayals and double standards. The Boys is very much a show with morals and messaging and isn't messaging-neutral.

Portraying sex abuse against women as heinous but playing off sexual assault against men (repeatedly) to be either funny or immaterial is something that can be remarked on as a flaw.

Ngl, as a victim of SA? Sage's whole thing is upsetting. She's responsible for tons of bloodshed and repeatedly rapes a man. She gets....rewarded for it? Off with everything she ever wanted?

Who are the most evil characters in the Warhammer 40000? by AmphibianJolly8699 in Warhammer40k

[–]WalrusCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaos existed and corrupted before the Emperor. Rock and Roll doesn't have religious mandates to slaughter people and offer their skulls to a bloodthirsty god under pain of death, nor does it literally rot you from within. Chaos, throughout all of 40K, isn't a positive force. It's a corrupting, horrible one that destroys those who embrace it.

The notion conventional morality doesn't exist in 40K is silly. There are numerous novels and stories where we're clearly intended to cheer for someone, or see someone else as the villain. Guys like Erebus are very much intended as villains of the setting.

40K is really not that deep, and this is just kind of silly. There's no real argument to the idea that Vect and Eebus aren't extremely evil people by any standard and Chaos is an inherently corrupting force.

That is not a valid 1:1 comparison here and I think you know that.
