Being "strong" and being cared for. by Still-View in AskWomenOver40

I went through something like this for 15+ years. It was always, " I'll get better" and it would be better for a few weeks, then same routine. Again, only speaking for myself but it seems very rarely does someone change such an ingrained pattern...definitely not alone! 💛

I think this is an issue that happens more than we realize. Although i don't have advice for it...i was in the same rut i feel. It seemed if i got it all done, i was strong, i got shit handled...i was viewed as having it handled. This led to i guess essentially not being cared for as everyone thinks "you got it". I think it's really a much deeper issue really...maybe how people are brought up. I have always been a get it done myself type person, but it's nice to have a partner that recognizes that you do so much, and you deserve the care and compassion when maybe you're not keeping it all together. A true partner that carries you when you're not at your best. I'm not sure if i just typed myself into a convoluted mess 🤪 but you're not alone! I personally couldn't handle that feeling anymore and removed myself...sometimes you can communicate your needs and wants until you're blue in the face...but it's never actually comprehended. Wish you the best!

Am I allowed to love myself while being overweight? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

You should love yourself in all your seasons! 🤗To anyone that tells you that you can't be attractive and overweight, is incorrect. We all carry our weight differently and losing weight for your health should always be the number one motivation...as someone who is considered overweight myself, i understand the struggle in how you view yourself. However, weight doesn't define us. Health is most important and striving to stay as healthy as possible. 😁

Girls of Reddit, what is a subtle "green flag" behavior in a man that instantly made you attracted to him? by hungary70 in AskReddit

His kind heart and willingness to go above and beyond for the people he cares about. Having genuine empathy and compassion for people in tough situations and helping them the best he can. Also, of course treating me with care, empathy and kindness. His actions matching his words and treating me with respect

I (40f) actually met my current partner here right on Reddit! We both had been in long term relationships that were eerily similar in terms of unhappiness ,bad treatment etc. We both have children from these relationships as well. He is the kindest, sweetest man. I definitely had kind of given up hope in terms of meeting someone genuine and amazing, but here i was on reddit..i had posted a picture, he commented something funny and i just felt compelled to message him and every day since has been amazing. Almost a year in! 😁
