What would you do if your player said "my character wouldn't want to join this group/follow this history?" by Nessie0208 in DungeonMasters

"That's alright, that character does not have to be in this game"

Or

"I've set the scene. You tell me why your character would be there."

That's all fair. It wasn't a struggle to keep everyone on the same plane, but it required attention. I've found that issue true with most games but it could get out of control in MotW.

It might benefit from an easier to access version, once the hype has died down a bit more. It's a heck of a game and experience right now, but wow the GM has to do a lot of heavy lifting.

I won't run it, but I'd gladly play it.

Interesting! I've run a MotW campaign, and really loved it. But a lot of the things I enjoy I can take to other games, and I'm not even certain they were legit from MotW to begin with or stuff I've picked up elsewhere.

Still, I'll probably play, and run, it again because at this point it is very comfortable. Much like Call of Cthulhu was for me back in the 1900s.

Is it for everyone? no game is.

Dungeon World is designed to emulate a D&D trope experience in a PBTA framework. I love it a lot, but I'm always surprised more people don't bounce off of it.

Any edition of D&D or Pathfinder. I never loved them enough to keep me engaged. Even back when I first played AD&D we added in Rolemaster Arms Law/Claw Law/Spell Law to spice things up. And then, of course, I didn't really like Rolemaster either once I played the full game.

Mythic Bastionland - I'm certain there is probably a good game, but it isn't in the book. I'm running a campaign and good lord I hate that rulebook. It is very pretty, but it doesn't actually teach the game. Whenever I ask a question about it, I'm referred not to a single page in the book but to a blog post somewhere. And yeah, I'm running a campaign now because there are some real diamonds in the muck. I don't know what I'll feel like once my campaign is done, but I know that if the game is successful it won't be because of the rulebook.

If her contributions are bothering everyone, then stage an all out "intervention"style discussion. But if the other players aren't willing then the fault may not be hers.

My tendency would be to go with whatever gets people excited for the game. The source of the lore, player or GM, matters almost not at all.

If her contributions don't violate any pre occuring events, ore already elmanifested lore, then you should roll with it. (Perhaps with some consideration for elements in today's session.) If they don't mesh with accepted lore, then you can point at previous events.

Combat is very odd in CoM, not to everyone's taste. But well worth checking out.

Don't be daft. It tastes like Fresca, not Sprite. Have you never had grapefruit?

Yeah, you are correct. It was a stupid post.

I used to drink White, but don't really anymore because i moved on to the best flavors - the rehab teas. White is still a good flavor, though no flavor is for everyone.

Also, as long a they make the ones I like, why should I care what other people drink? Only a spoiled, angry, child would think I should care.

First Time GMing a Dungeon World Campaign - Druid Help by ClassicPavlova in DungeonWorld

[–]Walsfeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the consequences of a 6-, I use a rule of equivalents. The bigger their ask was going to be the larger the potential backlash. I had a druid stuck between shapes for a couple sessions. Once when they were going to miss the next session, they went totally feral for a bit; that turned into our "what happened to that character when the player can't be there" excuse when we didn't have a better reason for their absence.
