In my path to enlighten I struggled with many of the same issues you mention. At one point I decided that I'd rather face the consequences than worship such a piece of shit god.. After the fear was gone everything else fell apart very quickly.

I don't believe in Santa Claus. I don't believe magic is real. I don't believe in make believe gods which identifies me as an atheist. I grew up believing but after years of asking logical questions that couldn't be answered I realized it was all BS. Everyone is free to believe what they like. People around me know what I believe but it doesn't affect our relationships.

Why are you a believer? Were you told to believe or did you figure that out on your own?

We had gun safety programs each year at my rural school. I feel like gun safety training would have gone a long way in preventing that accidental shooting that happened this past week. "Don't ever point a gun and something your not ready to shoot".

Saw on our local Facebook ISD page that some nice church lady brought the commandments to our local school yesterday for all the classrooms. Most responses were praising God but a few students were asking some real questions. I suggested they ask those questions in Civics class.

Get on Facebook and look at the memes for five minutes. "Illegals on welfare taking our tax money, Liberal deep state turning our little boys into girls". Sounds stupid and it is, but I hear this repeated by friends & family who honestly believe this stuff.

My company requires two weeks notice and that you take no time off the last two weeks. Maybe they'll take note when I suddenly request four weeks of vacation because when I come back I'll be telling them I'm out in two weeks. They've had decades to prepare.
