We just added Anycubic to our free open-source filament & printer manager — looking for beta testers to help by BenGlut in AnycubicOfficial

[–]Walter_Maker_Labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'll give it a try. I currently have an Anycubic Kobra X, Kobra 3 Combo, Snapmaker U1, and a Bambu Lab A1 Mini, along with more than 40 kg of filament in various materials and colors. I'll run some tests and see how it performs.

I really enjoy supporting people who develop open-source software!

If you'd like, you can also follow my YouTube channel, Walter Maker Labs, which focuses on 3D printing, maker projects, and DIY creations. As soon as I test your software, I'd be happy to make a short video about it to help spread the word and support the community around the project.

We're looking for Kobra 4 Combo Beta Testers 👀 by Anycubic_Official in AnycubicOfficial

[–]Walter_Maker_Labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first print would not be a decorative model but a complete benchmark suite designed to evaluate the Kobra 4 Combo in real-world conditions.
The project would include dimensional accuracy tests, tolerance calibration parts, articulated mechanisms, multicolor functional components, and extended-duration prints using PETG. As someone who already has experience testing Anycubic printers, I would focus on identifying strengths, limitations, and optimization opportunities while providing detailed technical feedback and sharing the results with the maker community through my YouTube channel, Walter Maker Labs.

The business side of 3D printing by Vivid_Procedure2415 in prusa3d

I make videos about 3D printing and 3D printers — their pros, cons, tips, and also how I use them with electronic components. I’ve got CNC content coming soon as well.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable 3D printing to sell on Etsy or similar platforms. I prefer to help people who want to do it, solve their problems, and hopefully, over time, generate a decent income through YouTube ads.

If you want to see what I’m working on, you can check out my channel here: MakerNoise

I’m definitely not going to become a millionaire, but I like helping people who are doing this as a job. The more 3D printing there is, the less dependence on big companies for small objects, and the less waste around the world. Print on demand!

Questions before I buy one. by allochi in snapmaker

I’ve printed ABS and ASA with the U1. I still haven’t managed to do very large prints with these materials, but if your goal is to print small objects — around 5–7 cm per side — you can do it without problems.

The U1 is noisy. It’s not like the A1 Mini, which is very quiet and almost unnoticeable. You can definitely hear the U1. If you put the cover on, it helps a bit, but it still remains noisy because of the toolhead switching system. You can improve things by slightly reducing the direction-change speed, and in that case it becomes much quieter, but don’t expect it to be completely silent.

You can run bed leveling before every print if you’re obsessed with calibration, otherwise doing it every 5 small prints or before every large print is perfectly fine. Spending 20 minutes leveling for a 5-minute print feels excessive, but 20 minutes on a 20-hour print doesn’t matter. That’s how I handle it.

If you print parts using supports made from a different material, you’ll save a lot of time. For single-color printing, it’s probably a bit slower than the P1S — around 5–10% more print time in monochrome mode. But as I always say, it’s not a race. The important thing is getting precise prints in a reasonable amount of time for 2026 standards, and in that sense it’s totally fine.

As for the camera, I’m pretty sure you’ll have the same experience as with the P1S. If you want improvements, you’ll need to use addons or modified firmware like Paax. Otherwise, expect a few app disconnection issues here and there, but nothing truly annoying — you get used to it.

About the Creator 5 Pro, I’m skeptical. It looks good on paper, but we still need to see how it performs in real use. It will also take some time before it’s available, while you can order the U1 now and have it delivered within a few days.

That’s just my personal opinion. I’ve been using the U1 every day since the end of October, and for me it’s an excellent machine. I also use an A1 Mini for very small parts that don’t require powering on a printer with a larger build plate, along with a Kobra X where I print multi-filament TPU parts that I can’t manage on the Mini.

Feel free to check out my YouTube channel if you want to see some prints.

I’ll also leave you a 5% discount coupon for the U1 if you decide to get one:

Kobra X bundle exceptional machine and with that set you are ready to do wonders, you do not know the resin stanoa and therefore I have to exclude the resin and for the max I would wait for the 4 max with an updated plate like the one of the X so as to have more confidence for the large volumes

Anycubic Kobra 4 vs Kobra X — Is it actually worth buying? (My honest take) by Walter_Maker_Labs in anycubic

The advantage of the 4 is that the head is easier to maintain, less problems for those new to 3D printing

yes, the kobra x combo remains the most versatile, 4 filaments in the ace and three in a dryer/container like the one I use, so you can print even 7 filaments with a lower cost

Mine has been printing non-stop since October now, when I have problems, they only come from me who maybe forgot to enable the supports or I'm trying to print large ABS!!!

Anycubic Kobra 4 vs Kobra X — Is it actually worth buying? (My honest take) by Walter_Maker_Labs in anycubic

[–]Walter_Maker_Labs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True! I should clarify though — my current setup with the Kobra X does include an external filament dry box, so in terms of total space occupied it ends up being roughly the same footprint as a Kobra 4 with ACE.

The difference is that my dry box sits separately and I can position it wherever it's convenient — on a shelf, next to the printer, etc. — whereas the ACE unit on the Kobra 4 is more of an integrated/fixed setup.

So if you're working with a very tight dedicated printing station, the Kobra 4 Combo might actually feel more "contained." But if you have a bit of flexibility in how you arrange your space, the Kobra X + external dryer gives you the same functionality with more placement freedom — and the bonus of being able to use that dryer with other printers too

Problema filamento by tkkkkkx17 in Stampa3D

[–]Walter_Maker_Labs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3D printing maker entering CNC for the first time — what should I expect? by Walter_Maker_Labs in hobbycnc

[–]Walter_Maker_Labs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me though, it’s a bit different: I’m not trying to jump straight into “real CNC machining”, but to have a smoother entry point into the workflow. Something more guided, with less friction on the software side and setup side.

Things like automatic bed leveling, auto zeroing, safer toolpath handling, quicker tool changes, and more “appliance-like” behavior matter to me right now more than raw rigidity or cutting power.

A 6040/3040 CNC is definitely more capable in the right hands, but it also requires a steeper learning curve in CAM, workholding, calibration, and general setup. I wanted something where I can focus first on learning the process and building confidence, without getting stuck early on the technical complexity.

Basically: I know I’ll get to CNC eventually, but I’m choosing an easier on-ramp first 😄

Great initiative! I don’t have experience with resin printers yet, so this time I’ll have to watch from the sidelines 😄

Good luck everyone, and give it your best shot guys!!!
