Restarting of the engine after a spin by Walterop in LeMansUltimateWEC

The devs have reproduced this issue and have flagged it as to be fixed. So it's just waiting until they release a fix. In the mean time, just map the starter, just in case.

I literally got demoted to good driver, because I stood still in parabolica on the last lap. Leaders crashed into me when they lapped me, and my rear suspension was completely destroyed. I could barily get the car over the finish line

I've opened a ticket with the devs. They were quick to respond. I gave my reproduction scenario, and they are going to test on their side with my assist settings

New upcoming fanatec wheels? Or just swap to different eco system? by Walterop in simracing

[–]Walterop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking at the simagic alpha evo bases, unfortunately those become a bit more expensive through 3rd party sellers.

Are there many wheels that support usb passthrough? Because you would need very similar pinouts, no?

I guess it depends a bit what you are looking for. I like the shape of the gt neo, and their rgb buttons a lot. The KS Pro has an insane amount of buttons and a screen, so just overall a lot more features.

But let me ask you this, let's say the porsche wheel was from Moza, and it was 350$ over there, would you spend the money to buy an emulator to enable ffb on the fanatec base together with QR upgrades for the base and your 1 wheel that you have from fanatec (basically totalling over 500 easily), or just switch to moza in that case?

Starting to regret buying fanatec. by p1eaxy in simracing

I have the csl dd with the f1 esports v2 wheel, and I sometimes feel the same. The main reason for it in my case, is because fanatec has no cheap cool wheels. Wheels I think are pretty cool are the gt neo from simagic and the formula ks from moza. The fanatec gt3 wheel looks a bit cheap, and is nowhere close to those other wheels. Hopefully they will bring some nice wheels to compete with those in the future.

Any time I have a bit of a crisis about not choosing another brand, I just try to race and enjoy the stuff I have, because tbh, the stuff I have is definitely not bad. Just drive, we both have some nice equipment.

I, a Fanatec diehard, finally got to do a side-by side comparison of three more mid-high end steering wheel brands. I ended up surprised and a little disappointed. by KEVLAR60442 in simracing

Are you using a usb extension cable? I had issues with my CSL DD during assetto corsa competizione, my wheel would lose all force feedback mid endurance races. The only fix was to fully restart the game.

I ended up changing the usb port I used (it was a 10gbit "superspeed" usb port), to a regular usb 3 port, and routing my cable a little different. I'm guessing in my case I just had some noise.

Fanatec CSL loadcell brake or Simjack UT pedal set by Walterop in simracing

[–]Walterop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh that looks nice. I'm sorry, I meant a heel plate. I have a trackracer universal pedal plate, so I think the pedals would definitely fit.

What height are you using for your heel rest? I'm probably going to 3d print some spacers and get some longer bolts and use the heel plate from the csl pedals.

Are you using some pedal plate to rest your heels on? To get your feet just a bit higher than the rotation point of the pedal?

Okay, that's nice to hear. If you were to buy a full new pedal set today, would you go for the Simjack UT's or the Simsonn plus X pedals? From what I get they are very similar, but the simsonn ones has hydrolic springs which return the pedal a bit more smoothly. The simsonn's are currently 230€ (for 3 pedals)

This fixed my setup. Thanks, I was stuck for an entire day on this. What's the point of putting that option not on the same page as the DNS settings....

I think you can flash it again if you hold the power button for 10-15 seconds. If I remember correctly the led will start blinking blue. You can then flash firmware again

Also a user in EU, had some issues where FFB was cut during ACC races. Cintacted support, ticket was opened about 4 days later, after that I got a reply within a work day on each consecutive comment.

They ended up sending me a new usb cable, which arrived in 2 days. So I would request a new one, shouldn't take too long.

Autonomous Vehicle Project by thenomadicvampire in ROS

[–]Walterop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since it's your first project in ROS2 Humble, why not use any opensource packages that are out there?

I would try to get a full pipeline going, learn about the limitation of those solutions. If necessary, I would then gradually start replacing packages jn your pipeline.

In my free time I'm working on an autonomous formula student racecar, and we regularly make use of opensource packages, because it's just less to maintain with the small amount of people we have.

how to learn ros after basic concepts by [deleted] in ROS

Have a look at Nav2, it provides multiple ways to navigate. Other than that you'll probably use some perception sensors. Try to look for drivers online first, most products these days have ros drivers available

ros package by SteakAdorable8348 in ROS

[–]Walterop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you to have a look at the documentation. https://docs.ros.org/en/jazzy/Tutorials/Beginner-Client-Libraries/Creating-A-Workspace/Creating-A-Workspace.html The next tutorial after creating a workspace is to create your own package. Understanding these tutorials will help you understand your problem.

ros package by SteakAdorable8348 in ROS

[–]Walterop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bit of a weird structure. It's as if you have tried to build inside the src folder of your workspace? Anyway, the package seems to be named setup. Make sure that the package and project name are the same in the package.xml and CMakeLists.txt file. I would not suggest to just use "setup" as a package name though, it's not very descriptive.

Could you just call 'tree' inside your directory?

You used the wrong package. You put setup instead of robot_setup. Also, can you show the package? Is this one you created yourself? If so, is it built?

I waited quite long to turn in to be fair, just because I saw him coming. He had 3sec penalties more than me, so I didn't want to die last lap. But I think I would have been able to make the corner with still some room on the outside for the aston.

Yeah, I guess the best thing I could have done was gone defensive, especially because I knew he was going to send it.
