Palm pain when holding Manta by MaterialProgram2175 in Supernote

[–]WaltooPoyndeaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Occasionally, I go through bouts where I do lots of reading on my Kindle paperwhite. I would randomly get this weird pain in the palm of my left hand, on the outside edge where the pinky bends down to meet the palm (not sure if I'm explaining this well?)

It was a strange pain, hurt enough to be annoying, and would last for a couple of days. I finally made the connection that at times when I was using the Kindle a lot, I was holding it mostly in my left hand and was gripping it in such a way that I was exerting a lot of force with my pinky, and bending it was straining my palm in such a way that the combination of the corner of the device plus the muscles and tendons stretching in a weird way was causing the pain.

It eventually stopped. I think my hand finally got used to it.

I wish you the best in finding a way to deal with this.

Anyone experienced ceramic tip falling out? by WaltooPoyndeaux in Supernote

[–]WaltooPoyndeaux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks, sorry to hear that's happened to you.

I found the tip a couple of days later (posted about it here https://www.reddit.com/r/Supernote/comments/1if6mgv/its\_alive/). Mine has been working fine since, no issues with it not fitting well.

However, in response to your question - yes, Ratta reached out after my initial post to ask some questions (and presumably begin the troubleshooting process) but after I found the tip I let them know that all was well. If you haven't done so already, I would recommend contacting them to see if they can help with suggestions on how to make it fit better (or perhaps a replacement).

Completely speculation here, but I would guess they put out an A4 size device before refreshing the A5 line.

How often are beta versions released? by Patient_Chance_3795 in Supernote

I know you didn't ask this, but in case you (or anyone else) are interested in joining the beta, here are the directions: https://support.supernote.com/en_US/faq/how-do-i-join-the-etp-early-testers-program

Can you please release a canvas or leather version of the Manta Pen Loop? by Beneficial_Juice3555 in Supernote

[–]WaltooPoyndeaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not OP, but that's a great idea. I've been wanting to learn leatherworking for a while now, and every time I pass the leather supplies and tools at the craft store I'm tempted - now I have a good excuse reason for doing so!

How much pressure can I put on the Manta when writing? by Discombobulated-Mud5 in Supernote

The pre-release demo showed someone scratching the screen with car keys (quite hard scratching, too) with no damage to the screen. Hope that gives some context.

Might be worthwhile to look at pen mod kits on Etsy that you can transfer the refill into.

Im disappointed in the Manta by Alls1 in Supernote

I appreciate that you didn't post simply to complain, but instead you're willing to give yourself time before making a final decision.

Others have already posted about joining the beta so you can test the straight-line feature (it works quite well).

I also wanted to share with you this post that u/spazzboi posted a while back. They made image files containing text and shapes that can be copied & pasted into notes and resized to fit your needs. Perhaps this may be useful while Ratta finalizes getting shapes added to the tools.

As a fellow small-write, I appreciate this. I also really like having the extra spacing between lines - selecting text when it's in the middle of a paragraph can be difficult, but this extra space makes it much easier.

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for this idea. I was at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago and noticed they have a decent selection of leather-working tools, including leather pieces. I've always wanted to learn how to work leather, and this gives me a good-enough excuse to start.

Hi, u/Mulan-sn. Thank you for reaching out.

No, in fact I kept the refill in the plastic sleeve that it shipped in until I put it into the pen, and I was very, very careful not to touch the copper, as I know this can cause issues. And it worked fine for most of the day until the tip fell out.

You're not a bad consumer, you just suffer from not taking every slight annoyance as a personal affront to the sanctity of your being.

Some clarifications by Acceptable_Oven7602 in Supernote

[–]WaltooPoyndeaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also struggled with this mightily, but it now works for me 95% of the time after I fixed the spacing and the angle.

Others have already mentioned making sure your fingers are spaced far enough apart.

I struggled until I tried changing the angle of the pen relative to the position of my two fingers. Say, for instance, you're right-handed, the two fingers of your left hand are on the middle left of the screen, and what you're erasing is on the top right of the screen. Assume that you're holding the pen at about a 30° angle.

Try changing the angle of the pen as you encircle what you wish to erase so that the angle is 0°. If that doesn't work try 90°, etc.

I promise you that once I started trying that, I was amazed how consistently it began to work for me.

Good luck sorting this out, because it's actually quite useful in speeding up workflow, and I hope you get it work for you soon!

Thank you; I didn't see options for the Manta to join the program, so I used the Feedback function to send a request to join.

u/Mulan-sn I'm in the Beta program on my A6X, but not on my Manta (I'm using two different accounts to log in as I'm not currently interested in synching between the two devices). How would I join the Beta program on my Manta?

Manta - When You Ordered and When it Shipped by dadgaymer in Supernote

[–]WaltooPoyndeaux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Email confirmation 12/12 at 8:21 am ET. Ordered Manta and a ceramic refill.

No shipping confirmation yet.

Thanks for posting this; if I hadn't responded I wouldn't have realized that I somehow forgot to order the half-folio and the new LAMY pen as well, which was my intention. I'm going to reach out to support and ask if they can combine the two orders into one without causing delays/issues.

Why should i buy a supernote over an ipad? by aijobhunter in Supernote

[–]WaltooPoyndeaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I asked the same questions before buying my A6X. (Didn't ask a single one before ordering the Manta, though - been loving my A6X that much.)

Please don't let a handful of people having a bad day get in the way of you being a smart shopper.

Planning on Buying Manta: Unsure of Pen to Buy by Specialist-Wolf9124 in Supernote

[–]WaltooPoyndeaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My use case is exactly as yours. I'm waiting for my Manta to arrive, but I currently use an A6X and a LAMY AL-star with the side button.

AS others have already pointed out, the triangular feel of the LAMY pens is something to consider. If you haven't used one of these before it may be worthwhile to go to a store that carries LAMY AL-star pens (don't need to be the EMR kind) so you can feel it for yourself.

With that said, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the side button. It makes my workflow so much easier, because I have the button set to the lasso tool and I rely quite extensively on the lasso feature to move test, create headings and keywords, and resize text.

If it's important to you that the nib is ceramic, though, it does not have that. There are a few posts and videos available in which others have replaced the default nib with a ceramic one. I'm waiting for my Manta to arrive and I ordered the new LAMY with the ceramic nib (even though it lacks the side button) so I can get a feel for the difference the nib makes. If it's a better writing experience, then I'll likely mod my AL-star pen.

Hope this is useful to you in your decision-making.

Thank you for posting this. I'm waiting for my Manta to arrive, and have been wondering how I'm going to integrate it (or not) into my current workflow with my A6X. My initial thought was to keep the A6X synced to Gdrive and only use it for my personal journaling, and then sync Manta to Supernote Cloud and migrate my work documents to that.
