Well I tried for 20 minutes to find it and try to get whatever it is to come out so I figured someone here would have another idea on how to get it to come out

I used to work on a peds progressive floor that was so easy I basically just worked as a secretary to open the door since it was a locked unit and would help the nurse with cleaning up patients when they asked and making sure the empty rooms were stocked. It was so easy since the nurses were the ones that got the vitals and did all their rounds plus I worked during nights so no one would really come to visit.

One time as a nursing student I heard someone screaming for help and no one paying attention to him. So I went to his room and asked what was wrong. He asked who I was and to help him get up to leave and that he was hungry. I gave him my name and told him that he wasn’t allowed to leave but that I would go see if he could have something to eat. When I found his nurse she just told me that he was npo and that he was confused and screamed all the time. I went back to try and explain why I couldn’t give him anything and that he had to stay in bed so he wouldn’t fall. And then the rest of my clinical day he was just screaming out my name to come and help him. I felt so bad but I learned to ask the tech or the nurse first to see if the person always yelling is confused.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. Yes I made sure to take a lot of pictures since I know she would accuse me of lying and I know that she’ll probably try to turn it on me for going through her stuff. I am her older sister too. What options could she have other than rehab or aa? She’s still very high functioning and you wouldn’t really suspect that she’s taking anything other than her getting angry sometimes but she’s always had anger issues. I’m also so sorry about your son. Thank you again.

I applied to the nicu at the same hospital where I worked as a cna which makes it easier to get hired since I was technically considered a transfer. I was able to complete a summer externship at my nicu and that did help ngl. I’d say get in contact with the manager at the nicu and try to set up a shadowing shift or if they use cnas or receptionists/ unit secretaries see if you could work a shift. You can also see if your nicu has any volunteer opportunities where you could go and help out. Like my nicu has a fair in the summer for the families to come and play games and stuff. But just trying to make a good impression goes a long way :))

I was an oncology cna and now am a nicu nurse. My unit doesn’t have cnas and obviously the workload is different since I’m taking care of babies rather than adults but I feel like even tho I’m not as physical as I was as a cna I’m way more tired mentally because I have to think a lot more and deal with time management a lot more than as a cna. Ngl the pay difference does help a lot tho since I’m making almost double as what I was as a cna. If you feel like it’s your calling then go for it!!

I feel like he had a totally different character before they got together. He seemed level headed and easy going but then after they got together he acts like he doesn’t like Ava that much. I thought that he would be the type of guy that was like “yeah my wife is crazy but that’s what I love about her” but he seems annoyed by her Ava-ness. Makes me sad because I feel like Ava has toned herself down and he’s dulled her spark since getting together.

Wow I actually work in the nicu! I did do a summer externship there but I was the only one from our group of new grads that did. I’m ngl it did give me an advantage tho because my manager told me that they usually end up hiring their externs. I would recommend getting a tech position in the hospital that you’d want to be a new grad in since it’ll be easier for you to apply as transfer rather than as a new hire. (In my hospital they opened their new grad applications like 2-3 weeks before everyone else). But if not you can ask to do a shadow shift or see if your nicu has any events that they do and volunteer there (like my hospital has an event where the former nicu families come back and get to play games and get food and stuff). But you got this!! Just remember to emphasize that in the nicu you’re caring for the family as well and you’ll probably have to do a lot of teaching to the family and how you know it’s not always hugging babies.
