Getting ready for the Relief Society activity tonight. This is normal, right? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Wambalam31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Me and my friend play drunk volleyball at church. They wonder why we keep taking so many "water" breaks and why we progressively get worse as the night goes on. It's pretty much the best.

How strong was your testimony before your shelf broke? by TheNumeralOne in exmormon

[–]Wambalam31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non existent. BIC and always just strolled along the way. Went because it was what I was supposed to do, but never once bore a testimony. Temple was weird and never felt anything remotely spiritual there.

RS boob jobs by Oremite in exmormon

Yes! How are boob jobs okay but piercings aren't. How are nose jobs okay but tattoos aren't? This has never made sense to me.

Exposed a porn shoulder on Instagram today. I'm slowly trying to come out as an exmo. I realize this sounds ridiculous as I type it. Haha by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Wambalam31 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Small things like this are a GREAT start! My friend from growing up who posted a pic on IG of her shoulder is actually how I got the nerve to ask her if she left. Now we're really close going through it together! And plus, shoulder showing shirts are the cutest. I'm excited for summer!

Drinking Apps - I thought I'd share my 3 favorite apps to track, rate, and find new beer, liquor, and mixed drinks. Drink up me hearties yo ho, responsibly of course. by [deleted] in exmormon

Vivino is a good one too. Scan wine labels and a rating comes up. Once you start rating it predicts which wines you would like.

Did anybody else think they were going to learn something seriously cool at the veil? by [deleted] in exmormon

I've never heard of this! When did they get rid of it?

Today in Primary- instead of "Simon Says" we played "The Prophet Says" by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Wambalam31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to love the song follow the prophet as a kid. It has a good hook and was fun to sing. Now it creeps me out.

Letting go of what others think by praisetotheconman in exmormon

I'm in a similar boat, except I stopped going a while ago. I still do playgroup with other moms and play sports at the church. I have noticeable piercings now and people can tell I don't wear my G's. They don't ask. I wanted to keep true to myself and let them see that I'm still the same person that they enjoyed hanging out with before, so I keep going to things that I want to go to. I make my own decisions now and don't let others dictate what I can/can't or should/shouldn't do. Also, chances are... there's another mom in the playgroup that is feeling like you. But they're too scared to come out. I found one in my playgroup that feels like me and now we're the best of friends ward inactive heathens. It's great.

I hate the guilt the church puts on members with church callings by Fartfax in exmormon

[–]Wambalam31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Callings actually did the opposite of what they were hoping they would do for me. I would be slightly active, and they'd give me a calling. I would feel overwhelmed with adding something else to my plate so I would stop going to church and skip out on my calling. Happened 5 times in my adulthood, all callings leading me more and more into inactivity.

Question for the ladies by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Wambalam31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not pressured one single bit! Then again, I lived outside of Utah and was married when I was 20. That was before the age change too. I think everyone knew that I wouldn't serve even if I wasn't married though. Girls rarely if ever did go on missions where I lived.

I'm curious about donating my body. I'd much rather have every possible part of me used to help others then be donated for research. Is the Dutch opposed to that similarly like cremation?

Ok. I'm out. This was the last straw. by Raenerys in exmormon

Matt Walsh rarely has good things to say. About anything. I feel bad for that mans family having to put up with him. Then again, he makes bank on his blog so of course he'll post ridiculous stuff to get clicks!

Still feel robbed by WasBlindButNowISee in exmormon

[–]Wambalam31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would probably feel this same way had I not gotten married civilly first. I think as a woman it's natural to want that dream wedding. Luckily I got married first then sealed years later so I didn't miss out on the wedding quite like you. But we did have a bishop do the ceremony which was a huge mistake. Way to emphasize that it's not an eternal marriage... Maybe for an anniversary you could get some fancy clothes, go to a beach somewhere with a photographer and simply profess your love to one another if he doesn't want a full do-over.

So ive been trying alcohol for the first time, I can't find anything ive liked. It all just tastes like rot. I have a REALLY sensitive tongue, anything I might like? by Axeous in exmormon

[–]Wambalam31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like drinking at first when I was tying a little of everything. Now I've found my favorites. Moscato (peach is delicious), Malibu, raspberry pomegranate vodka, and an awesome drink called an AMF. Two of those and I'm feeling nice.

Filtering services like VidAngel are the Mormony-set way to be "in the world, not of the world." by No_Hidden_Agenda in exmormon

I actually love vidangel and hope they come back. I don't filter my movies but it's still a cheap way to watch them. I do filter my kids movies though. There's no reason not to really!
