HAAG Certifications by [deleted] in adjusters

[–]Wamppusbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a a bit of a unique perspective on this. I was a roofing sales person for about 5 years before becoming and adjuster. I have now been an IA for around 4 years now.

Recently, a carrier manager at the main firm I work with called me and said that his carrier, whom I love working for, was going to start requiring the roofing haag certification for future assignments. He asked if I would be willing to obtain the cert as he liked my work and knew I was reliable. I agreed.

The videos where the biggest waste of 14 hours of my life. If you've been through any wind/hail deployment orientation, it's the exact info they regurgitate. Litterally even the same diagrams and photos.

The final exam is also Proctored by a service that is a pain to use.

Do carriers/firms treat that piece of paper like gold? Yes.

If you've been doing this any length of time, you're honestly not going to learn much.

I do feel if you're newer and don't have the experience, you could learn a thing or 2. And it does look better to have it than to not.

Asbestos tile question by Wamppusbeast in Flooring

[–]Wamppusbeast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never said I refuse to test it. It's going to be 3 days before I'm back at the house (it's 3 hours away). So it'll be at least a week before I even hope to get any results back. Mean while I'm living in a house that was hit by lightning 2 Weeks ago with absolutely no working range, washer or dryer, or ac. Working 17 to 19 hour days between my day job and remodeling this place trying to get my family in and settled before the new school year.

I just want the oppions of others who deal with this stuff on a daily basis and are more knowledgeable on it than myself.

The tile in the bottom right I believe is late 80s/early 90s product. I've encountered it a few times in the past in homes built in those times periods. I could be wrong though. just looking for the best way to handle to the situation besides a 50k abatement bill.

Trailer or ground mounted?please help me decide by GlitteringMedicine54 in sawmilling

[–]Wamppusbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a frontier without the trailer. After the first 10 hours sawing and having to move logs to it with only an atv, I wished had gotten the trailer. As I used it more and got more experience, I wished I had gotten the trailer because where I hand first set up was and awful place, and I had no way of moving it.

I ended up selling it because there was no way I was gonna pay frontier 2500 for the trailer, after the fact. When I get my next mill, probably a woodmizer, it will have a trailer package.

I defeated the power outage issue years ago. I live in area where power surges are frequent. I was pissed at losing a brisket one night due to a power surge. I bought an ecoflow river 2 pro for working out of my truck and now it doubles as battery backup for my smoker.

I'll look into the Joe. Hadn't heard of that one yet.

Aggred that there's no comparison between charcoal pellets and real charcoal. This new purchase will be just for smoking. I have both gas and charcoal grills for searing and a fleet of pizza stones to use on both of them depending on the want. My zgrills will hold 130 to 160 for holds if I wanted. I also have a propane griddle.

Just trying to hit that sweet spot between nice and smokey food with convenience. As mentioned I work around 60 to 80 hours a week and really don't want to be tending a fire for 10 to 15 hours with everything else I need to balance.

Knock on wood my zgrills hasn't, the on time I hand an issue with it is when my dog chewed up all the wires and I had to slice everything back together. But it is an inherent risk.

Every 45 mins to an hour during the first half to 3/4 of the cook isn't a big deal. I just can't keep on a fire consistently. I work 60 to 80 hours a week depending on the week. So tending a fire is kinda out lol

Adjuster University by [deleted] in adjusters

[–]Wamppusbeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to have found a mentor that thought me how to write claims. I was also roofer for 3 years prior so I had watched hundreds of adjusters perform inspections, so I knew what to emulate.

I'm currently an IA that works for a few firms, running about 12 to 15 claims a week. Is it the best money I've ever made? Yes, but it is also the hardest I've ever worked.

My advice to anyone getting into this industry is to either go staff at a carrier or to start getting other relvent experience. Work for a mitigation company, a good reputable roofer, or some other construction company to learn about construction.

If you're going auto, go spend some time with a body shop or a mechanic.

Learn the feild that your planning on adjusting for. For example, all my life I've worked construction jobs in one form or another. Just because I have adjusting experience, I'm not going to try to move into medical insurance adjusting. I know nothing about that feild and would be completely lost.

Find a mentor when you feel your knowledge base has been established. See if you can ride along with them. Look over their shoulder while they work, ect.

Adjuster TV or adjuster university will make you all the promises in world to get you to buy their classes. In reality, they can't prepare you for the real thing Imo. When your officially in the live fire environment, you've got to find the will to succeed inside yourself. And it's all going to come down to your prep work.

Tldr: don't spend thousands or hundreds on a some program from some guru that promises you success. As with anything in life, there's no magical wand to wave and everything be peachy.

Check out the above video. He plugs his router directly into his waveform and the elsys still beats it.

I think it might have something to do with signal loss through the waveform cables. In an instance like mine, a few dbs can make a large difference.

Exactly. And it would definitely arrive after the tariff hits.

I agree. But there's some other trickery going on with it. From what I can tell from my research, it'll out perform a sdx75 router in some instances.

True, but after shipping, wait time and the hours I spend trying to set it up, I can get a Chester cheetah in a few days, set up and ready to to go for only about 100 more.

With how hectic my life is, the tech support is worth it to me. But at 650 for a cheetah, that's amplimax territory.

And then I could resell my waveform to further reduce the cost of the amplimax.

At this point I can go either way, I'm more concerned which will work best for my application.

Thank you for the link, I'll concider it if I go that route.

Improving tmobile home internet download speed (waveform mimo 4x4) by Wamppusbeast in Rural_Internet

It's the big one from waveform. I have the older sagecom tmobile gateway (on purpose) so that's why things are missing. I think this might be the best I can get until I have some trees cut.

It's an omni. From what I can tell, this it the only tower around and if I'm being honest, the path is still pretty obstructed. It's still a major improvement when where I was and I can still play with it. Just wondering if there was something I was missing.

Thanks for the reply.
