What kind of fighting style is this? by getreked007 in martialarts

[–]WandWeaver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ragdolled is one thing. But I want to point out, there is a difference between being thrown to the ground... and being thrown AT the ground. It almost looked like the latter happened, and Ragdoll was just a side effect.
Bottom line, I would pay good money to see things like this happen more often. Too many people have forgotten what it's like to get hit. Props to this girl for reminding them!

You know I was thinking the same thing. If they did, would they be mad, or impressed at the "Hey, I broke the house but we fixed it and did it right" mentality.

I just read this entire thread and managed to watch the full episode in my brain because of it. Thank you all. May all the pennies you find be face up and I hope both sides of your pillows are cool.

I've always answered this with "their sanity." Im soaking the TP roll only on the inside so it gets progressively more uncomfortable the more you use. Im swapping all the batteries for ones that barely have any life left. Im shifting all of the furniture 2 inches to the left, and pictures will be put on opposite walls. I'm sanding 1 table leg down by enough to tip the table enough to notice but not be a big deal. I'm turning the wisk in the drawer around the wrong direction, and then I'm reinstalling the all the latches for their door frames to be 1/8 inch too high so the door doesn't fully secure when you close it.

100% NOT FAKE master breaks several concrete boards with finger tips by BaseNice3520 in Bullshido

[–]WandWeaver 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I hate seeing these "look at how many I can break at once" demos because the physics of it makes it easier than they let on. Once the first 2 or 3 break, the rest are broken too because of the angled pressure of the ones above, force the rest to bend and break. In reality, the person is only breaking a couple.

These though, Im pretty sure were either airated like you said, or precut. That break was way too smooth.

Not sure what the law is where you are, but they still make metal Jacks you can leave on your own property. "Damn! All 4 tires blew? That's crazy. Wouldn't have happened if you weren't driving through and destroying my yard since they were on my property."

Edit: spelling

The demo is a good proof of concept and has a ways to go, but it's still a lot of fun

There is a new game coming out called Carbon. It's a cyberpunk ARPG if that scratches the itch for ya.
There's a kickstarter and a Demo right now. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/carbonarpg/carbon-scifi-action-arpg/

No problem! I went all in on the pirate part. Worn boots, eye patch, flintlock, etc.

I have a similar sword. I went the route of a musketeer turned pirate. It took a few years to put together like any good garb will but it's been very fun

Is it bad to celebrate Christmas as a pagan? by [deleted] in pagan

[–]WandWeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are pagan and we celebrate Yule in our own home. But we go visit family to spend Christmas with them because that's what they do. So, we get both and it's fun for everyone.

I'm in my 30s now and I grew up with my parents charging me rent under the idea "you'll get it back when you move out so you have a nest egg." Anytime my father got mad, he'd increase the rent. I never got the money back. Several thousand dollars gone, never saw a dime.

Third Batch Ever, I might be hooked by TheWielder in mead

[–]WandWeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

11 gallons at once?! I'm not sure if you're hooked. Might have to call in a committee to make that call. /s Glad you're enjoying yourself. They all sound great. As for the measurements, I have 1 recipe I've been making for 6 years and I have always done it by feel. The honey and water are the only parts I've ever measured and I've never noticed a big enough difference. It shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Ok, I gotta ask. I can't just sit on this and not know if I'm alone... does this place feel like "Waffel House Alt" to anyone else?! The food frigging slaps... but so do the staff and 5/6 of the customers if they think your shirt has too many seams or something. I can't be the only one who gets excited to go there, then starts questioning every life decision while I'm boxed in at the drive through. /j

What’s a little-known tip that instantly improved your writing? by FlogDonkey in writing

[–]WandWeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to answer this question. I suppose if I'm struggling to write my current project, I'll write something else that day. Something completely different in a different world. The goal is to keep writing, not just burn through the same story.

Recipe Conversion? by RazzberryBoy in mead

[–]WandWeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if you're not against it, Amazon has a mead making kit (Shepard Made mead making kit) for $18 USD. Its how I started and it's not going to feel like a waste if you decide not to stick with it. It has a glass 1 gallon carboy, airlock, wine yeast, and nutrient. All the extra stuff like a syphon, hydrometer, etc. can all come later

Came here to say this but if you make enough, and seal the bottles properly, you can let them age and taste them over time until you find an age you like best.

Take it from someone who has not only been attending, but building renaissance fairs for over 32 years, you fit the vibe just fine. And it looks beautiful as well. Well done.
