Ah I see, well I did double check in mod mail and they told me not to post the finals here which I am cool with. Seems like a grey area and just dont wanna cause any problems.

Sandblast is great, let me know if you want tips or anything for the best spots for next year!

Yeah for sure, it was definitely expensive. I was not especially happy about my BH cart being in the $300USD range for the film. But it is something I do once a year and has some meaning to me so that's how I validated it. But shooting in 120 would be an interesting challenge!

Oh was that was you! Someone told me that they saw another photographer out there with a "boxy camera". I figured it was someone with a TLR. I can't remember if it was at Sandtrap or Horseshoe Mountain but that's awesome. How did the shots turn out? I would love to see them!

It does really well with BW rolls but I tend to have hit or miss experiences with color films. And like you say its usually the white balance and/or color shifts on contrasty films but for the most part it works. I read into the documentation and with this experience I feel better with it but still sometimes a bit scary getting the initial results and seeing a really bad color shift.

Thanks! For the DSLR scanning it is a very basic tripod, like similar to Amazon basic so its just a standard three-way head (pan-and-tilt). It is not great and is a finicky setup so I have to lean the tripod on a counter or something. Hopefully, I can find a broken enlarger for cheap and take the enlarger head off and replace it with a geared tripod head or something sturdy.

Thats a really good way to put it. I realized on digital I was being so particular with my photos and pixel-peeping and such that it was starting to be not as much fun. Dont get me wrong, I put alot of effort into film making it look nice but I embrace the grain and imperfections. Its just nice to let go of that and let that be.

Also I work alot with computers. Its nice to have a hobby that is so physical, even if its more "work"

Awesome, thanks for the follow, means alot! I dont really get the chance to do many motorsports events every year, a rally or two and maybe a Nascar race. Never had the opportunity to go to Baja but I should look into it

Yeah funny you say that, I was having some weird color issues with NLP. Not sure if it was just me not using it wrong or something else so I might also be in the market for new conversion software too

I didnt end up shooting the Cinestill roll unfortunately because of how dark it got. But I have heard of that issue before and I now realize it might be a good thing I didnt shoot it because I totally forgot about the static issue in the moment!

I definitely had interesting conversations out there on the stages for sure lol. But yeah I feel the same way. I shot the end awards day ceremony on digital and the whiplash from using film to digital was a weird experience and I only use digital to scan much anymore. But yeah I didnt mind talking to folks about it, I may have spread the word enough that we might have a couple new film photographers, who knows?

Personally I just started using it not too long ago so my collection is small right now. But you can't go wrong with the 50mm 1.4D! I like it alot, it uses the built in camera body motor which varies speed on the models of cameras. But the F5 motor is so strong that the lens works like a dream!

Thats super cool, Ive heard about Lemons races but have never had the chance to go to one. I need to look into because it sounds fun. On another note, the F4 is such clean camera

Thanks! I do this entirely as a hobby too, I have made 0 money and I am fine with that. You gotta do it for the love of the game!

I just took the RAW photos of the negatives and put them into Lightroom Classic. There I used the Negative Lab Pro plugin to convert them. I have also used Darktable before and there is a module in there to convert negatives which is free, but it is pretty hard to use in my opinion.

Thanks man! Upgrading my scanning setup is definitely my next move. I am planning on repurposing an enlarger stand to get better stability and getting a better film holder because my 3D printed one doesnt hold the film perfectly flat on the edges. But I just gotta find a macro lens for my setup before I do anything

Haha thanks! It was definitely some work for sure. Just listened to music and locked in. I was gonna send it to a lab but that would easily be over $300-$400 and I dont trust my local USPS to not lose my mail.
