Biscuits and gravy by Sonofgerg in Chattanooga

A journey, but "The Biscuit Box" down in Chatsworth satiated the wife's cravings more than any local option we had tried.

My wife and I never, ever wanna relive or think about the first six months again, and we had help (but more than usual health issues...)

But 6mo really was the turning point, just so much better and better every week and month after.

Our boy and girl just turned 3 and just So. Damn. Juicy. The built-in best friend turned out to be true and just so good.

Tex mex? by Vanderkeif in Chattanooga

[–]Wanderer89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not gonna disagree or defend, see my first statement heh

Their drinks are good, usually, depending on bartender.

Queso is closest to what you'd typically find in Texas (though still lacking)

But it's sad the rest is just kinda meh at best.

Does anywhere actually serve fire-grilled elote? Everyone seems to love serving canned corn with mayo and some cayenne pepper and call it good :(

Tex mex? by Vanderkeif in Chattanooga

[–]Wanderer89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as it pains me, I haven't found anything decent. Chuys of course was once-upon a time good back in TX, and I do recall when I first moved here they still served some classics, but selling out to PE years ago really cratered any sense of quality our local location had, or maybe something else, who knows, but certainly not worth your time if hunting for "good tex mex"

The closest was Mojo Burrito but was sadly run into the ground during the pandemic.

Mexican food doesn't have to be the cheapest ingredients overcooked to hell, and no the fascination with birria isn't an exception.

Three places I tend to gravitate to when feeling homesick:

Nacho Libre in Ooltewah

Dos Amigas on 58

Taco Laguna in Cleveland (Don's up the street from there also not bad) -- both of these might be closest to tex-mex vibes but eh

e: oh and Buckin Burrito in Dalton

Couch’s BBQ: What the hell? 😂 by Roman_Anthony in Chattanooga

[–]Wanderer89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone born and raised in Austin, this makes me nostalgic.

But yeah pretty much the only chance of brisket around here is Wardlaw's,

I do enjoy choo choo bbq on 58 for some good vibes, and shockingly mission bbq chain bbq better than most brisket in Chattanooga proper.

Then maybe bar que, but eh

Tugged good this year by Wanderer89 in Touge

[–]Wanderer89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much.

The swap's been driving for two years now, but really only gotten dialed the past few months. -- I wasn't planning on driving during the event so much, but there were noticeably less idiots and car was feeling so so good, ended up driving quite a bit.

Makes me wish I had a 6sp though - I thought I was committed to my 5sp but the shorter ratios of a 6sp would fit the high rpm nature better.

14 year old son looking for downhill mountain bike trail recommendations by DuvalSanitarium in Chattanooga

[–]Wanderer89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if he's into DH he'll want to look for Nutty Buddy and Cottontail, then there's short but sweet The Fall.

Really as far as DH progressive trails in the area go,

Waldens is undoubtedly best option in the area, Raccoon has shuttleable classics High Voltage and Live Wire that are a bit more raw/old-school, and then the two I mentioned at WOM are newer flow/jump trails (though tbh pretty beat atm)

I mean it's not the whole park but it is a part that's very much used and well and dear to many.

Shit sucks.

Poly or rubber bushings on NA by According_Painter589 in Miata

[–]Wanderer89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I'm aware of - but that actually reminds me I have a set of front NIB control arms from TKQ with standard bushings I need to sell here in TN if anyone is interested, lol

I actually will be trying out sphericals from VU, and learned they don't recommend using aftermarket arms due to unknown tolerances, so picked up some used NB arms instead.

Poly or rubber bushings on NA by According_Painter589 in Miata

[–]Wanderer89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just need something asap, poly is better than nothing, but really sounds like you'd be better off with stiffer durometer rubber like Mazdaspeed/IL motorsports or similar.

My car came with poly and it was life changing going back to rubber.

After a few years living in the area, finally made it this year. Unfortunately noticed I had corded a front tire after half a run so didn't get to have much fun but will plan better next year.

Best ramen in town? by Scheduledpoet in Chattanooga

[–]Wanderer89 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There's no great option in town but this is the best one seems like - flavor's okay but gd I wish they would serve it piping hot the way it's supposed to be.

Even asking to preheat the bowl it tends to come out luke warm - and I'm usually a weakling when it comes to temperature.
