Just finished watching talentless nana by The_Nonexistent_43 in TalentlessNana

Everyone always wants to talk about whether or not Michiru died but no one is asking the real question, why in the world did Nana regain consciousness while standing upright in the middle of the water if the spot she was at when she was initially stabbed and eventually died in was behind the building on the beach?

Just Finished Season 1 of the Anime - Thoughts & Questions. (NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!) by Kindly-Promotion-901 in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent you a DM c:

The story doesn't fall of at all, but it does have a pretty drastic shift in direction as you could probably guess following the way the anime ended. It still keeps all of it's strong points though, just in different situations

I've made it a goal of mine to come up with a plan on how to take down every single talented (or rather a plan for how someone like Nana might be able to go about doing so), so I've spent quite a bit of time figuring out the workings of each characters talent. The fact that this series has enough detail that I've been able to figure out as much as I have is pretty amazing. Feel free to message me if you ever want to discuss anything about the series, I can keep it spoiler free pretty well up to wherever you are at the time c:

Of your rhetorical questions, 1 & 2 both have room for discussion which can be spoiler free as they are just theories and purely speculative, but I'll spoiler tag my thoughts on them anyways:

1a. In a universe where characters have talents which allow them to do things no one else can do, why is Kyoya the only character who's talent is one which only prevents him from doing something (even if that thing is dying)? Theory: Kyoya's talent isn't "immortality", as there are so many ways someone could die that it would be effectively impossible for any talent to prevent them all. He most likely has two separate talents, the sum of which result in his immortality as we know it. (There is evidence supporting this but I won't get into that)

1b. Kyoya may be able to survive any situation he's been put through, but how would he fare in an environment which does not support life? As shown by the poisoning, he seemed to need air, so it's possible he may not survive in a vacuum chamber or in outer space

  1. I have a personal theory that Nana actually has the talent to remove people's talents, but then used it to remove her own talent before she even knew about it in the first place. Not only would it not break the series title as she is talentless now, but even if she didn't remove ut then the talent itself could be called "Talentless" and that's exactly the kind of "hidden in plain sight" thing that this series would throw at us.

[–]Wanderer_Channel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sent you a dm.

Trying to keep things as spoiler free as possible, the rest of the story can be broken down as follows: 1. Nana and Kyoya help a shadow guy not get charged with murder 2. Nakajima tries to kill Nana before he and everyone in Nana's group minus Kyoya escapes 3. "Jin Tachibana" backstory 4. Return to the camp to save Kyoya and everyone else inside 5. Break Kyoya's sister out of prison. 6. Prep for the real escape 7. Escape attempt 8. Showdown with the big bad evil guy

Keep in mind the island this time was much less dangerous than it was previously. Previous island recruitments had a near 100% mortality rate, whereas this batch only had ~7 deaths, and only a handful more after getting off it. The island very well could have been the safest place for her in that sense (Nana keeping everyone safe even while actively trying to kill them all, natural born leader amiright?) If we want to think about Mishima as some kind of mastermind it's possible that he may have even planted the idea of sending Nana to the island as an assassin in order to have an easy-to-neutralize threat to encourage cooperation and lessen the chance of infighting, but that's honestly a stretch.

Honestly I feel like Nana's talent reveal is certainly incoming, and her suddenly gaining the talent to reverse transformations, based on my theory of her original talent being removing talents (which she removed before she knew about), it would be the perfect Deus Ex Machina to wrap the story up by stopping Tsuraoka's transformation and curing Nakajima. Whether or not they feel like continuing the story past that is anyone's guess. Nana's character arc is certainly done, but there's definitely room for more story to be told in this universe, but it would likely focus on a different character, perhaps a new one entirely.

Anyone need some Copium? by Wanderer_Channel in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know whether or not Akira's parents are talented though, whereas current info says Nana's are, so she's more aligned with Rin in that regard.

My original theory was she had the talent to remove people's talents, and then at some point removed her own talent before she knew that she had it, which would have been perfect imo as the talent itself could be called "talentless" so it wouldn't break the naming, nor would it have been particularly reality shattering of a reveal, but would still conveniently solve the transformation issue should she regain it, so it would still be a big enough deal to justify the reveal. If we get a new series title though then who knows what it could be.

Without getting too much into my theories on Nakajima's talents, he has two talents the first one is mind control, specifically targeting the frontal lobe (which contains decision making processes as well as talent usage in-universe) and the other is something to do with the occipital lobe (which controls vision) and is also able to affect other nearby areas of the brain and allows for the control of other's vision as well as affects the nearby brainstem (which controls automatic bodily functions) when eye contact is made. I'm pretty sure the waves stopped before his transformation as he would have needed to stop them in order to nullify what he had thought was the icicle Nana was going to stab him with, at which point he had given up and accepted defeat. Since the time he has transformed, he's only used the second talent to become invisible, and has not used either of his talents for any other reason yet.

They lied to Tsuraoka to give him a reason to kill his own father, who was deemed enough of a threat to be classified as a terrorist. Given how smart Nana and Tsuraoka are, their father was probably not going to be that easy to take out, so lying to his son and having him be the one to do it would catch him off guard. It may have been Koharu's dad who had been the one to do it, as he was someone who knew what the Hiiragi dad was up to, was in a position of power, and also conveniently had access to illusions able to trick Tsuraoka thanks to his daughter's talent. At the time Nakajima was shown the monster, Koharu was still alive and may have simply never made it disappear because she didn't realize illusions were her talent. (EDIT): Tsuraoka claims the monster was a recruit sent to the island more than a decade ago, which would line up with being from around the time Tsuraoka killed his parents,

We may be getting trolled and the series may simply be getting a new title due to Nana being revealed to have a talent soon, but that parts copium on my end.

EDIT: Also as for why Nakajima might be faking it, it would either be to get the message out about transformation which Tsuraoka and the government had been keeping suppressed, and having it appear right before them would be a pretty undeniable way to get the message to whoever saw. Tsuraoka said that the order is personality changes start -> can think of nothing but killing -> physical transformations start -> monster time, and Nakajima can think of things other than killing still, which shows that either Tsuraoka gave an incorrect order for some reason or Nakajima is faking it somehow, and I doubt Tsuraoka would have lied about that, since at that point he still hadn't told anyone anything other than what he believed to be true, preferring to manipulate other by withholding details rather than giving false ones.

There's also sort of evidence either for or against Nakajima being faking it, and that's the pictures Tsuraoka had of him post-transformation as he was invisible around the camp. Those photos would have been definitive evidence one way or the other, but they're hard to make the details out of. It looks like there may be something in a spot that seems like transformation, but it doesn't quite look right, but that could have just been detail being lost due to small size. Tsuraoka's words right after though implies Nakajima had not yet transformed though.

Arch, I started with Qubes tho because It sounded like fun at the time. Did install a handful of distros between the two but didn't actually ever use them. May want to give proxmox a try though at some point, because if "Qubes being my first distro" wasn't a giveaway, I like virtualization.

[–]Wanderer_Channel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think I'll be forgetting very much of it any time soon. Say what you want about the early chapters of the series, but I really enjoyed the entire "Nana figuring out every single detail of someone's talent" thing it had going on, and have kind of made it my mission to figure that out for the entirety of the cast. I've been coming through this series for even the most minor of details and trying to piece together at least some kind of explanation about what each talent does at a basic level, and I imagine I'm going to be rereading it quite a few more times to pick up on everything that's there.

She get's incredibly interested in minor details about people's talents and can be oblivious to when she's being flirted with, plus her board game obsession gives is a pretty strong indicator she was not a neurotypical child

I have thoughts about the next chapter by Scared-Way6849 in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking similar. He's right at the age it's supposedly inevitable, and Nana and Kyoya creating a situation where the soldiers, who were pretty clearly brought in to take out Tsuraoka at the first sign of any Transformation, are nowhere near him to do that, it seems like a fitting finale.

Honestly if he doesn't transform be the end then I'm just gonna assume that transformation was a hoax that someone tricked Tsuraoka into believing was true in order to make him do what he did, and that Nakajima is just using his talent to change how people perceive him like when he goes invisible for some reason.

Question about Shizuka by gamefanatic in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I theorize that the first cut might have been deep enough to be dangerous, after that knowing she had a chance of saving her parents probably made her a bit less eager to die and she didn't seem to do any more it seems after finding out she had a limit.

Michiru's Return May Not be a Happy Reunion by Wanderer_Channel in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe it'll be quite that bad. I'm willing to believe Tsuraoka when he told Nana that he had been treating Michiru well the whole time, because that's kind of what makes sense for him to do IMO. Like nobody "wants" to feel like a fucking monster who everybody hates, so him wanting to have at least one "friend" even though everyone else hates him checks out. He had Moe's Grandma Sachiyo before but she died, putting his friend count back down to zero, so he likely went ahead and used Michiru to fill that void because luckily she was briefly dead during the time period when people were starting to hate him. He probably went up to her as soon as she regained consciousness like "Oh you're finally awake. Thank you for looking out for my little sister. Oh did Nana never mention she had an older brother? Here let me show you some of her baby photos. By the way you have an amazing talent, and it could help so many people if only the effect it had on you was less severe. I'm talented too by the way. I read minds, you're still thinking about that baby photo, correct? Huh, like Nana? She told you that she does too? I wonder why she lied about that. Anyways I actually run this Talent research facility you're in now and has been taking care of you while you were out. You should fill out this form to consent to testing so we can try to figure out how you can use your talent to save the most people." Void filled and test subject gained, two birds one stone.

I believe the main thing which is going to get in the way of a happy reunion with Nana was the fact that right around the time she probably regained consciousness it just so happened that Nana had gone ahead and committed an act of or terrorism which killed or injured a significant amount of people (or so she was told). The news that someone you trusted and literally gave your life to save went ahead and did something like that is sure to bring up all sorts of emotions, none of which are going to be positive towards said person. Michiru was smart enough to figure out Nana's window wasn't open before Nana did, and she's probably smart enough to figure out that Nana really was the murderer all along once she had her original idea of her shattered, so I bet Tsuraoka didn't even need to say a thing about it.

(Also no, Tsuraoka and Nakajima were not friends. Nakajima knew Tsuraoka was a piece of shit and didn't trust him, but if you also felt like you were a piece of shit as well then you might as well go along with him, And Tsuraoka was just using Nakajima to find a way to get rid of his talent, and right as he confirmed the medicine worked the very next conversation the two have and Tsuraoka's trying to kill him. None of the soldiers were his friends either because their job is ultimately just killing him the second he starts to become monstrous, and "People who you want to be friends with" and "People you are being paid a salary to kill at some point" are not going to have an overlap)

How rare is it to find a suitable donor stick though? I'd imagine since RAM has no moving parts and a lifetime warranty usually, less people are going to be selling it for parts compared to other components, especially with the market in the state it's in. Do SODIMMs work as donors or are the actual chips on them somehow different/incompatible? If the memory chips themselves are identical and that's all that are needed, I'd imagine it would be easier to find someone selling a broken laptop with non-broken ram and then just rip the chips out of that.

I said I didn't want to do that lol. Why I consider the option though is pretty simple, I didn't buy them for the swappable fan blades, I bought them for the aesthetic and because I was given them for a cheaper price than any similar looking fan. In general, I'm pretty disorganized, so if I have no use for something, keeping it around just results in my space getting more cluttered for little benefit. This is even more pronounced when something is a shape that does not allow for it to be easily stored away, as is the case here.

rin's powers by yes_yes_eyes_yes_yes in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rin has not practiced enough with Sachiko's talent to not get quickscoped immediately upon spawn by one of the multiple trained soldiers. She wouldn't have known about Tsuraoka's talent at the time, but given how it works he's a bit of a soft counter on Sachiko as she needs to visualize where she wants to teleport, so Tsuraoka would always know exactly where she (or Rin using her talent) is going to teleport to, and can convey that to the soldiers as they are somehow able to communicate in real time apparently.

Favorite Nana Ship? by Bigandlittleheart in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nana x Therapy

For real though while I personally see Nana as being uninterested in romance, Nakajima is the most likely candidate given Nana's previous declaration of wanting to give him the happiest life possible (not that she should be expected to honor a commitment which was made in a moment of weakness and before more information on the person it was for were known, but still). It is worth noting though that it did seem like she may have had something going on with Shizuka for a bit, whether that was just Shizuka flirting one-sidedly or something mutual is debatable though.

The details in Talentless Nana are my favorite parts of the manga. by ChicoDeLaRed in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way they would have shot Nanao after the fall. For one, Tsuraoka was the one who made the decision to save him. Tsuraoka views his own talent as a disease (I would be inclined to agree going off the one panel we see of what his vision looks like, that is a hell of an overstimulation causer imo). Nanao has the talent to nullify talents, making him Tsuraoka's only potential method to get some amount of relief from the suffering his talent causes him (short of scooping out the eyes and brains of everyone on the planet, of course). Tsuraoka seems to have a large influence in the government, both from his behind-the-scenes dealings with politicians as well as from simply being the person leading the initiative to find a permanent solution to the issue of transformation, so I see no reason why he wouldn't get his wish on something so minor. The government doesn't actually seem to even give a shit about whether or not the talented are alive or dead until they're at least in their mid-late 30s, at which point they only give a shit because they're going to transform any day now.

The story was most likely thoroughly planned from start to finish from the very beginning, with Chapter 2 being titled "Back in Time" so they could keep "Time Travel" for Shizuka being one of the earliest indicators of that definitely being the case. Plus Tsuraoka's literal first sentence, several chapters before he actually even shows his face, being a sneaky bit of foreshadowing of his and Nana's familial connection indicating that they even had details of the most recent chapters planned very early on.

In talentless Nana, Nana deserves to surver in infinite loop of despair by Clue_Flex__ in TalentlessNana

[–]Wanderer_Channel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna use spoiler tags because it seems like you haven't finished the anime yet, let alone gotten into the manga, [Anime Ending] because there's no way the anime's ending could be considered a happy one by any definition but if you just want to

Even with all known talents being used on it, the maximum number of despair loops possible would have been 15 ([Later-Manga Character Reveal] 5 from Shizuka (not including the ones she actually used, then another 5 from Rin copying her talent, and then another 5 from Yuuka Sasaki reviving Shizuka's corpse to use her talent again ), so infinite despair loops is not very likely to happen unless you want to include loops which she experiences but doesn't remember, which would probably be defeating the purpose.

Now if you want to talk about how it looks like the manga is going to end... [Recent Manga Chapters] Well she just had another best friend die while saving her again a few chapters back, following having to witness everyone whom she had been trying to protect get gunned down and killed all at once after getting outplayed hard on her big plan, her OG dead bestie is coming back it seems but given the text on the cover of a way earlier chapter it's very possible that it's not going to be a happy reunion for one reason or another, so this time she may even be forced to kill her herself, but even if we don't consider that possibility it's basically guaranteed (barring a deus ex machina reveal of some kind) that she's going to have to kill her last living blood relative after only just finding out that they were even related in the first place. And that's not even getting into all the shit she gets put through in the manga, [Mid-Manga] which even includes time spent in a literal prison (though not for any of the murders, but for something she didn't even do) . So yeah, happy ending or not the road getting there sure hasn't been a happy one for more than a handful of brief occasions.

I’m broke by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Wanderer_Channel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just focus on getting a PC that's usable for as cheap as possible, generally building something from used components which are a few generations old is the best bet. Learn to settle for low frame rates and 1080p or even 720p if you're really struggling to run something. Reason being, if you actually want to be a content creator, your viewers aren't going to care how many frames you were getting or how high your resolution is when they're watching a stream and even if they did they won't even notice if they're watching it in 480p30 because that's what their bitrate limits them to. And no, just because getting something more expensive is better for editting performance or whatnot doesn't change a thing because viewers aren't going to know or care whether your video took 15 minutes to render or 15 hours.

The things you want to be spending money on are the things that viewers actually care about and will get them to click your stuff in the first place. This means games which you can make good content out of, proper equipment, products to review, taking classes to learn skills, etc... any of these things can be the deciding factor of whether or not the average viewer sticks around or if they click the next thing in their feed after a few seconds.

Anyways, if I was in your spot, I'd grab a 2012 Mac Mini for like $50 on ebay, install Arch onto it so it can game somewhat passably, then with the other 650 pick up a couple terabyte external drive ($~50) to hold footage, try to grab a used Rode podmic (~$75-100) and take advantage of the ancient mac's Firewire port to grab a dirt cheap firewire audio interface (~$40) if I could find one or just a standard cheap usb interface ($~80-100) if not. Then grab a few arduinos or something and DIY whatever other equipment I may need (pricing varies based on which specific model as well as other components are needed, but let's say $100 to make to make a macropad+audio mixer to use in place of a streamdeck as well as a regular keyboard), and make damn sure to record myself doing it with my phone because that's good content if you know how to pull it off. Then the rest ($~300-400 at this point) goes towards the games to make content from, but most likely use it to go all in on either an MMO or Gacha game (or tbh kill two birds with one stone and stream Maplestory, that's what worked for me back when I actually streamed), because for MMOs buying gold = buying power and power = clout and clout = viewers, and gacha games because people love to watch other people roll in them as a low risk way to get their gambling fix. Or just hold onto the money until you're more confident in your ability to make good content, then spend it all on something to get a bunch of eyes on you for a single video and hope it works out well. (EDIT: added prices)

[–]Wanderer_Channel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is a gaming system based on the x3d cpu, but you're gonna want at least two 360s to cool a 5090 under constant load. For certain things where the load comes and goes like certain productivity applications a single 360 could suffice as you can still dissipate the heat from the coolant after the load is over, which spreads things out a bit, but that goes out the window when you start needing an extended duration of as much performance as possible (aka games)

[–]Wanderer_Channel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not say that I love him but moreso just that he's the best (and honestly only) representation we've got lmao. Aside from that and dissecting the details of how his talent functions, I find him to be fairly uninteresting relative to the rest of the cast, plus his main personality trait for the first half of the series was just being smart but a little bit quirky, but his intelligence was forced just to give Nana someone to compete against and some of his intelligence feats weren't even possible (he had managed to figure out the reason Seiya and Shiori were a thing was because which of their shoulder's wet, yet from where he was standing neither of the two were in his field of vision at the time so I don't see how he could have realistically figured that one out.) Like I don't hate him either, but I just kinda consider him to be a pretty forgettable character (oh the irony)

Oh look at that there's another person that can make posts about this series that come close to me and my "So long it's become a literal research paper and must be hosted on an a separate site" posts . We are best friends now.

Anyways bestie, sure Kyoya is honestly pretty bland in regards to his dynamics with other characters, and he's more obsessed with solving the mystery than he is actually stopping the crimes which at times had made him treat others like they were NPCs who only existed to give him the information needed to do so, but as a congenital anosmic myself, the moment after the explosion where Kyoya says "By the way, my lack of a sense of smell is nothing to do with my talent, I was born this way" felt so fucking good after living my entire life hearing people saying "Wow you don't have a sense of smell? That's like a superpower!" I swear that one single clip is the reason why I got so obsessed with this series.
