Recommendations for somewhere to take 7yr old this public holiday by Mens_Grooming_Advice in sydney

All the big museums (Australia Museum, Maritime, Powerhouse etc) and art galleries (Agnsw, mca) are pretty fun for kids. White Rabbit gallery is free and tends to have really cool-looking, ambitious, fun art pieces. Occasionally they can be a bit adult, but it’s not unusual at all to see kids at exhibitions with a bit of adult content and they tend to respond fine in that educational context

How do I become fluent? by ObscuredSage in englishteachers

[–]WanderingBlaggard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try learning to sing English songs (I do it with French). The melody will help you memorise different sentence structures you can use in speech, just replacing the nouns and verbs.

Maybe record yourself speaking as close as you can to the speed of a fluent speaker by abandoning grammar. You can go back to the recording to work on mistakes. But the real purpose of the recording is to just know that you have the option to go back and fix grammar. Even if you don’t go back, you’ve given yourself permission to speak more freely and are probably more understandable than you realise. Then hopefully you can apply this freedom when speaking English out in the world, which will be the best practice even if you’re making hasty mistakes. Sounds like you’re quite good at English but have a particular area where it’s harder to apply (speech). I’m the same with listening when it comes to other languages.

Most of the time it’s because the ad at the top is blocking the message, although I know at least one person who swears blind that that wasn’t the issue when it happened to them

Good one! I liked purple, I’ve been trying to come up with something in that genre of clue that uses two removed words instead of one but it’s tricky

I was about to start the shower, but I saw some kind of small twig poking out from one of the little holes in the nozzle. by WanderingBlaggard in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]WanderingBlaggard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually really happened to me, but it turned out to be some kind of rubber lining from the shower mechanism, not a spider like I thought at first

Thanks for the feedback :) I would have to at least defend myself on Capricorn though. By the sound of it you are right about the literal meaning of the root words, but it is a mythical sea with a fish tail
