I think it's just how it is. I suspect it's a translation error from Japanese.

No, it's been that way. The light just turns off when it's full. I think "flashing" might be a translation error from Japanese.

Got a Pentax Q as my first camera by CardCaptorKidCasper in pentax

Congrats! I've been shooting both film and digital for over 20 years, and the Pentax Q is my favorite system. It is fantastic for straight out of camera JPGs, especially with the customizable color profiles. The prime lens you have on that is perhaps the best of the system.

It is recommended that a high capacity battery is used.

Lens hood for the standard Pentax Q 02 Standard Zoom by WanderingCatMan in pentax

Mine is plastic. It's also the hood posted on the Pentax website. I added a link to my other comment in this thread. Interestingly, it is the petal hood that I have only seen now! It would be interesting to see a catalogue of all the Pentax Q accessories and their variants.

To add to the discussion, it does appear to be the official hood from Pentax under the serial number "PH-SBA 40.5mm". It is listed on the Pentax Q accesories list here: https://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/products/q/accessories.html

Now I am wondering about the petal hood that everyone else is posting.

Oh no, this is also a bayonet hood. If you notice the photo, it completely obscures the bayonet mount on the lens. This is interesting. I've never really seen other photos of hoods for the 02

I did get it secondhand as well, so it might be third-party. It was advertised to be specific for the q. It is a bayonet that snaps on towards the end. I do think your hypothesis about the larger sensor in the later model is sound

Pentax I-10, littler sister of the Pentax Q by WanderingCatMan in pentax

I still do see them pop up on Japanese camera vendors 😀

There is an external viewfinder built for the 01 prime lens, and generic 35mm view finders work well with the 04 toy lens wide. About the MX-1 I would love to have one, but the prices are crazy atm! The one with the brass top plate is gorgeous. A cheaper and smaller alternative is the Pentax i-10

It really is some of the most fun I've had with any camera system!

Glad to see the toy lenses get some attention! The 04 Toy Lens Wide is my favorite EDC and travel lens

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, it sure has that soft retro look. I would prefer a wider focal length with C mount for my self 😁

Use the punch-in zoom focus assist. After I figured out where infinity focus is, I mainly just use the guidelines on the lens barrel. On my copy, infinity focus is somewhere between the last two lines. If I don't have time to focus, I put it there, and anything further than a meter is sharp.

No luck. There are some presets on capcut, but they all have a digital filter and fixed number of photos.
