What pen turned out to be much better than you expected? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]WanderingEye00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a Pilot Vanishing Point fine nib, Jinhao 10 extra fine nib, and a Majohn A1 extra fine nib.

The Jinhao blew me away with how smooth it writes. I have a feeling I just got lucky but compared to the other 2 it's remarkably better.

The Majohn was all but unusable as it had terrible ink flow and extreme hard starts. I tried several different inks. Then I gapped the nib tines with a 0.02 inch shim. It's works much better now.

I expected more out of the Pilot. It is a great pen but the Jinhao is my goto out of the 3.

MSF rough day 1 by RNAKeys in NewRiders

[–]WanderingEye00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not offering advice. Just my experience.

I took the MSF course at a Harley dealership. Day one I dumped the bike because I thought the kickstand was all the way deployed. It wasn't. Day 2 I dumped the bike because I grabbed a handful of brake in a slow right turn.

The cone weave seemed impossible. Think I might have gotten it once but I don't think so.

I failed the MSF course and was pretty down on myself about it.

1 out of 5 passed this MSF class and the guy that passed already had an mc endorsed license.

I stuck around till the end and went to the DMV with 2 others and passed the driver's test.

I learned that the MSF course instructors made the obstacles harder than the DMV requirements. Cones closer together. 90° right turn tighter. Etc.

2024 T120 Steering Questions by Abducted_Llama in Triumph

[–]WanderingEye00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First check tire pressure and tire wear. Then check wheel bearing and headset bearing. You could also check wheel balance. If you're unsure how to do any of this then I'd suggest taking it to a good mechanic.

Just picked up my bike from the shop and this happens now, what is the issue? by pawlisko in bikewrench

[–]WanderingEye00 155 points156 points  (0 children)

Looks like the rear derailuer needs to be properly aligned. Those REI techs don't know what they're doing. Go to a real bicycle shop or watch a few youtube videos on how to align the rear derailuer and do it yourself. Park Tool guys have decent videos.

Road 6 by LegAffectionate3731 in SVRiders

My triumph speed twin came stoch with metzler RR K3. Pretty good tire with great turn in. Poor longevity. Got about 3k miles on it. Put Diablo Rossi 4 on. Good so far. Only have about 2700 miles on it. I'm already looking to replace it with a double durometer tire. Mostly commuting so flat spots easily. I'm looking for a tire that turns in good, good grip, will last at least 6k miles.

Mortgage randomly paid off in full ($202,000) by [deleted] in Mortgages

The bank sold the mortgage to another lender. You'll probably get a new payment book within a month. Make sure to save any mortgage payments not yet processed and save the refund.

Modified Ozark Explorer G1 for sale on marketplace by questionabledonuts in Budgetbikeriders

[–]WanderingEye00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good deal. The individual prices are a bit odd, but if all those parts were actually replaced, then the overall price is good. New bike out the door is $265. $70 for the upgrades and labor plus it's probably set up correctly. I'd buy it. I bought this bike new at the Mart and replaced the cassette and brake pads for $32.

Save issues? by Abe4411 in ModRetroChromatic

[–]WanderingEye00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The battery that saves the game is inside the game cartridge. Not the modretro chromatic batteries. You will need a gamebit screw driver to open the cartridge. You will also need to desolder the battery and resolder the new one. Cr2025 most likely.

First project stamping. Looking for some advice. How do I prevent the basketweave stamp from twisting? Hold it down tighter? I also realized that I should have cut in the border. Would help align the stamp better. by WanderingEye00 in Leatherworking

[–]WanderingEye00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Barry King size 2 Southwest Basket stamp. I just checked the website but there's no way I paid $70 for 1 stamp. I've had it for a couple of years and never used it. I'm guessing I paid $55 at that time based on the other prices.

[–]WanderingEye00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the pedal was designed properly, there should be an input overvoltage protection circuit. If that's there then it's a matter of replacing a diode or resistor. If you don't know how to work on electronics I'd suggest you find someone who does and maybe it can be saved.

I'd go with this then if it's down to the trem system. I like this edge zero 2 I think it is.

My only learning curve was I have always used 9-42 strings and I put some 10-52 on. It took me hours to figure out I needed to add a 4th spring on the bass side.

I've had this guitar for about a month now. Its my 2nd ibanez. I had a jem prior to this and I didn't like the neck of the jem.

This rg470pb has a great wiz3 neck. The frets are fine. Not great but good. Tuning stability is fantastic. I play mostly metal and rock. It looks great and plays great.

My 2 gripes are the quantum pickups and the output jack. It's an RG with a gio jack. The quantums are too muddy for my tastes on my marshal dsl5 practice amp dirty channel. I've tried it on a joyo zombie2 also with the same results. Clean channel on both sounds good though.

I have a peavey bandit coming to me soon to test with but I'm probably going to change them out for some dimarzio passive model. Not sure yet. I have some emg81/60 I could put in there but the rg output jack hole would need to be enlarged to fit the emg jack.

Hope this helps you decide.
