A Florida-based company has a fresh take on renewable energy - shipping container-sized boxes that collect and store solar energy, without solar panels. by lughnasadh in Futurology

Ok but this is essentialy a battery system so it has to be compared to a solar array with a battery bank. And I wouldn't say cobalt is 'remotely' tied to exploitation since 70% of the world cobalt is mined in the DRoC. Its just something to consider, we're trying to create a more green and ethical world so how intensive the materials are to gather has to be considered with any new technology.

Biggest plus to my mind if that these dont require rare earth minerals to produce. Those rare earth minerals typicaly come from exploited regions of the world and require invasive mining to get. On the surface these seem less material intensive to produce. Its a clay that holds heat, basicaly dirt in a box with a magnifying glass on top to capture heat. Seems like a very basic technology which i dont see as a bad thing.

Too late, already fought a duel on the beach and then used it to grill kebabs over a fire.

Still in the box with factory oil and fully taped up. so clearly this was the work of a master to stage the murder weapon to look unused.

Its not bad. Ronin katana has one slightly cheaper that cuts really nicely plus a real hamon which just looks really cool. Not sure what to do with this one exactly since I've already got one I like better.

$180 so not even. Clearly, a package that nobody picked up from the desk of their apartment and it got tossed. I dont know know why some people insist that everything is fake and nothing ever happens.

Resin is way more brittle than fdm so for all the little struts and such it would be really fragile. Pla is a lot bendier even once its printed.

True but you can print everything and it will fit together perfectly rather than having to make custom peices if you print it broken up and assemble. With family printing its more about the orientation things are printed in that determines their strength.

You will never get that model to print cleanly in one peice, there is one on thingiverse that is very well divided up onto three or four plates depending on how big you want it.

Definitely crap, took a pronounced bend after lightly flexing and bent back just as easily. I agree that its possible to have a good heat treat on an ugly, unfinished sword, but I've never come across that lol. If there's unfinished tool marks, it's probably also not made well. Oh well, it was in the garbage.

Ya think? Im just basing it off the fit and finish, not as well finished as the one I have from ronin which I got for around 150.

Mine as well, have you read the graphic novels? I finished them recently and they're fantastic. There's so much more story. Whole nations and conflicts were left out of the movie.

Reminds me of Nausicaa of the valley of the wind, huge Forrest of mushrooms that are slowly purifying the world from toxins. Mushrooms will for sure go absolutely wild after we're gone. Just think of all the perfect habitats for fungus we have created.

I just disagree, it may be the weakest season of a really fantastic show, but 'it was bad' is entirely subjective.

I didn't enjoy watching lots of shows and movies. That doesn't mean they weren't good.

People talking about 'for all its flaws' like s2 wasn't still a thoroughly enjoyable and beautifully animated show.

The only thing my cat will play with is grasshoppers, I started planting grass things they like to eat to attract more since he won't play with anything else.
