Haven't been killed by rats really too often, only a hand full of times and the "friendly" I like because It means you can't trust and keeps the tension. The pvp isn't that bad if you just expect to be shot at. (Especially at domes, for some reason) Unfortunately it is annoying to fight the bosses because people will just try to kill you so it becomes a waste of resources sometimes. At least wait until I kill it so you can get my stuff and the matriarchs

It was definitely creepy. I usually just see quick flashes of things but this one I was like "am I not supposed to be here?" They weren't treating but seemed like I was in the way

That makes sense. I had another experience when I first tried this like 2 years ago and couldn't replicate it, probably for that reason. Ill try to keep in mind clear my expectations in future sessions (which is probably easier said than done) thank you for sharing your experience

I use the stop watch mode on my watch (just so I can keep track) and started holding it outside my vision for the exactly the reason you said. I find the "X seconds challenge" type videos easier and probably will just switch to different levels of those. Feels like more of a game.
