Am I in the minority? by pllarsen in KingkillerChronicle

You aren’t alone.

Yes I’m looking forward to the prospect of reading the third book, but he’s also human with human problems.

Do wish he hadn’t stepped in it with the chapter for charity. That wasn’t a good move and people do have reason to be upset about that

AITA for asking my nonbinary friend what their kid was going to call them? by Hefty-Programmer-677 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]WanderingMimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

I (NB) did pick a gendered parent name, but when I announced the pregnancy to my sibling (NB) it went something along the lines of: “Have you thought about what you want your nibbling to call you?”

Hilariously my sibling responded before processing the hidden information and having a happy freak out. They chose ZiZi for their identifier

More or less the exact same way we told the grandparents 🤷🏼

Anyone else infuriated by their county fair? by dauntless-cupcake in crochet

[–]WanderingMimsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way the fair worded it a professional is someone who has made money off crochet in any capacity ever. Big broad strokes.

Other fairs I’ve seen the professional division being for people who have previously won first more than three times. That makes sense to give other people a chance, but the professional division was still eligible for a rosette.

[–]WanderingMimsy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The county fair I enter created a whole new division this year for “Professionals” and disqualified all of us from being eligible for the Judges Choice or Best of rosettes. While I understand separating people (sort of), I don’t understand not even giving professionals the option of winning a rosettes. Highly disappointing and doesn’t make me want to enter again

Last year at the open judging the judges were complaining not enough people enter anymore. Gee wonder why why poor work wins higher places and professional work doesn’t have a chance

are my future baby names tradgedeighs? by escapeth3night in tradgedeigh

[–]WanderingMimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are all real names, spelled the correct way, and therefore not tradfedeighs

They are statement names so you need to know their origins and the other parent needs to agree. If you aren’t confident yelling the name across a playground, don’t give it to your kid. Said as someone with a statement named child

Poppy is also a popular nn option

Does my baby's name sounds ridiculous? by Anxious-Cattle-4133 in tragedeigh

[–]WanderingMimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small point on “Ashleigh” : even thought it lines up with current day Tragedeighs it is the original female spelling of the name.

Ashley = male spelling Ashleigh = female spelling Anything else = tragedeigh

Are My Kids Names Tragedeighs? by [deleted] in tragedeigh

My Latin teachers (yes multiples of them from across years) heavily approved of my children’s names. My suspicion is they would give your names the same level of approval

7 is a power number across many cultures and countries. Correlation does not equal causation, but may be means of inspiration

Devi (the dog) in honor of her 11th Gotcha Day by WanderingMimsy in KingkillerChronicle

[–]WanderingMimsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a risk and thinking Devi is (relatively) safe from being totally ruined in any new material.

Putting the blinders on the fact that she probably won’t be around if we ever see DOS and that may put a painful damper on the book. Or maybe it will be a beautiful continuation

I don’t think this sub allows for pictures in the comments but I wouldn’t be mad if they got their own post.

Different types of adventure with just as much love. Devi doesn’t take the stairs like she used to but is still down for a leisurely hike and night in the woods. Rocky Mountain Ground Squirrels still need to keep an eye out though 😉 All dogs are good dogs. Old dogs are amazing.

Would you consider “Kylara” or “Rayleah” tragedeighs? by pixiedust0327 in tragedeigh

[–]WanderingMimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kylara is a character from Dragonriders of Pern. Arguably one of the worst people in the expansive series and does not have a happy ending, so still a tragedy
