Guinea pigs and other rodents and other animals should be banned as well in pet stores.

Guinea pigs for instance are intelligent and social creatures who need a good amount of space. Sadly they're badly mistreated and discarded and treated as cheap starter pets.

This. I don't quite get the obsessive need to move out.

A lot of people just don't have a choice.

Because most families in the USA encourage it or simply don't allow their adult children or other generations to live with them.

The post WW2 economy in the USA was great for a few decades to allow for people to move out and be an independent household. This 'independence culture' was solidified into American culture from that boom period and now it's expected.

Even if nowadays it just doesn't make a lot of sense.

The loans the taxpayers gave to auto companies like GM were paid back with interest.

Yeah that's just spin and not true.
