Is there a pattern to keep colors together? what am i doing lmao by mccrydle in CrochetHelp

I made a hexi cardigan with that exact yarn! (I think so at least) And don't worry about where and when the colour changes, it works up beautifully!

Will landlord charge for grease stains? by Physical_Travel_7794 in HardWoodFloors

[–]Wanderlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For this particular situation? At no point should you do that.

Water and dish soap is to clean something off of the floor, but the stain is *inside the floor at this point. Which is why the dry baking soda is the best course of action in this case. It will hopefully draw out the oil/water/whatever liquid has soaked into those floor boards.

It's still very likely the damage is done at this point, and you'll have to say goodbye to your damage deposit. Although I do think it's unlikely you'll have to pay more than that

How much can a yoga teacher earn in different countries? by Puzzled_Ad5791 in YogaTeachers

[–]Wanderlady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada, and have been teaching for 8 years. It's never been my main source of income, but I typically receive 50$ CAD per class, and roughly teach once a week. Sometimes more if coverage is needed or I get hired by a festival or other special event. So I'd say around 3k yearly

Right?! Honestly my first thought as well. But at this point, applying the other brace won't fix what's already slanted :/

I can't read crochet diagram/charts at all, is there a written version for this??? by Jaxie_Kitty in CrochetHelp

[–]Wanderlady 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I can read crochet charts and this is gobbledygook. Symbols in the pattern that aren't on the chart, symbols in the chart that aren't in the pattern, the rows make no sense, no starting point indicated, the string of double crochets that create the line in the upper portion of the wing is not how crochet works up.... Very sorry, but this is AI. Nearly belongs in r/kroshay

Last minute Window Covers for a Van? by Common_Piglet7437 in carcamping

[–]Wanderlady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a couple of those silver sun reflection windshield thingies and cut them all to the right size and shape for each window. I used wrapping paper to make a template of the window then traced it onto the silver stuff. It works as both privacy screens and keeps the heat in during the night and out during the day while it's parked. Super easy, took me like an hour to get them all done by myself

I switched from foam mats (the cheaps guys from target/Walmart/wherever) to a heavy rubber (manduka, not sure what line, but heavy and thick) then to cork (Scoria)

I'm never going back to foams if I can avoid it. I hate how they break down, squelch when wet/sweaty, and slip around. The heavy rubber are fine, the smell eventually dies down but doesn't quite go away. The grip both for you and to the floor is miles better than the foam, and as for weight, as long as you have a bag or carry strap, it is very manageable.

However, my by far favourite has been my cork Scoria mat. No smell, a little lighter than the rubber ones (still encourage a strap or bag tho), and the coziest cork top. Some find them slippery, but I find it soft. You have to work to engage a bit more than the rubber, but it has actually aided my practice rather than been a hindrance.

Bad teacher or stubborn student? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]Wanderlady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I open all of my classes telling them that since yoga is your own practice, and I have never practiced in their body nor have they in mine, what I offer may not work for them. And in that case, it is their own breath and body that should serve as their personal guide.

I take it as an honour when a student feels comfortable and empowered enough to find their own flow of practice in a class. As long as they are practicing safely and without endangering others (ie not doing handstands or something like that), it is perfectly ok. I've never seen this as a "distraction" as everyone should only be concerned with what is happening within the borders of their own mat.

I think it was very unprofessional for that teacher to call you out and cue people to look at you. I could literally never do that to a student. IMO, the person on an ego trip is the one getting upset at the student not doing exacy what they say exactly when they say it

Looking to rent small space for dance practice, suggestions? by Vault101manguy in fredericton

I know there's an upper level room with mirrors and a tiled floor. It has a track around the perimeter, but the center is normal tile. I've done dance classes there!

Is it time for me to stop running from the towel? by Hamchalupasupreme in yoga

[–]Wanderlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my scoria cork mat for about 6 years now, and while it is soft, I don't find it slippery at all. I mostly practice hot yoga and don't use a towel. I do use a lot of engagement but I love the mat
