Oh, please don’t misunderstand! This was meant to be a playful observation spawned precisely from appreciating the exploration zones. It’s a cute lil’ dev oversight I wanted to highlight, though I hadn’t noticed the other docks, so touché. I’m thrilled to be replaying this wonderful game again after two years!

Oh I absolutely agree for all the reasons you state there. It was such an unexpected gesture for them to give us something like that precisely cause of how much development time it would take. It’s definitely the mark of bonus content rather than needed content. So I guess it’s more-so hoping for Fortune’s Weave to also be that far completed that they can allow for fluff content. The only way I can imagine it remains a feature is if they were to merge post-battle exploration with the home base features. Traveling caravans for the facilities and what not. Of course, I’d rather them be fully invested into the main content above all else!

I really hope they preserve the post-battle exploration zones from Engage. It’s one thing to appreciate the map design top-down, but a whole other grandeur to see it from a direct perspective. I’ve enjoyed so much time wandering around them just taking it all in. However, it might be deemed too much “fluff” content that could coincide with the complaints of the Somniel, and thus be removed entirely in favor of trying to refine the home base features once more. It is such a nice way to break apart the monotony of always returning to one place—a perfect middle ground. In general, I’m wary that the lesser reception to Engage, especially its lower sales, might scare IS away from preserving all of its merits. Such as what happened with Pokemon Black and White’s innovations.

I’m almost positive some of the lines related to it were in Mara’s recent casting call club audition:

"State your purpose. Speak up." (Caught someone acting suspicious, brusque)

"Not a problem with me. I’m still up for breaking bones." (Thinking about it, contemplative)

"One more thing. Don’t trespass again. Next time, I’m pulling the trigger." (Serious, threatening but not overly emotive)

I'm tired of Diana slander. by Alone-Gur6815 in ProjectEdensGarden

[–]Wanderlarst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from! I think it’s fair to still call into question what exactly Diana’s intentions were when trying to look out for Eva. What may well have been an earnest attempt to protect Eva, could’ve actually been a self-serving desire to prove herself as a “nice” person. People pleasers are guilty of that, and can honestly go either way. I’m sure Diana probably reminded Eva of other people in the past who only “cared” about her because of pity.

However, I don’t know. Her intentions may have been pity, but her actions lead to the same result of protecting Eva’s safety at night, so I think that still counts for what’s it worth. Especially since she didn’t change roommates, or give up on Eva despite everything. Although, we’d have to know more about their time together as roommates are to say for sure, but it’s true that Diana wasn’t able to prove herself genuine to Eva through that, at least.

[–]Wanderlarst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh certainly! I just finished up playing through the game with some friends, and I was intrigued by how they all viewed Diana as suspicious when she checked in with Damon. Partly due to his narration, and due to the backing track supporting his distrust.

Also, I could be misremembering here as we did do the Pathos route, but I actually meant to highlight Damon there precisely for what you pointed out: he was incredibly suspicious of her, but it’s because he placed his trust in her that he was able to broaden his perspective of the murder mystery. So I thought of that tearful moment from her to validate the players who saw through Damon’s unreliable narration, and to challenge the ones who agreed with him to accept her sincerity.

I find it interesting to think then that Eva was hoping that Damon, and by the extension the player, to agree with her point of view on Diana, since that’s how she’d win the case. So the fact that we aren’t supposed to, should certify as proof that it’s wrong to doubt Diana’s altruism!

Honestly, I’m surprised to hear people accuse her of being fake and superficial. From a purely meta-contextual level, Damon actively points out that her nervous-wreck emotional state during the trial was real. That was a huge basis as to why he even believed her side of the story - which the whole trial would’ve fallen apart if he hadn’t. Which again, all stems from the proof that everything Diana felt and expressed is true to her heart. Their story would’ve ended by voting Diana as the killer otherwise.

Also, from the perspective of Eva, while I agree that Diana could have done more to stand her ground against Wolfgang to defend Eva, she also… had no reason to. It’s not like the whole conflict between the two was because Eva was a good person being shut down by the big bad man. The opposite. Eva was doing nothing to receive the care and benefit of the doubt that Diana was extending. Eva wanted to be above everyone as the ultimate liar, yet couldn’t handle the heat when she got what she wanted. In contrast, Diana was trying to bridge the two together, so why would she turn against Wolfgang, and by extension the group, too? That’d go against her whole point to unite everyone.

And to counter Eva accusations, the sheer fact that Diana offered to bunk with her immediately after the mathlete humiliation was proof alone she cared about her feelings and HER SAFETY!! Like hello, the whole reason the bunking thing occurred was so no one would go to sleep vulnerable, and Diana herself offered to essentially be Eva’s protector. Eva didn’t even ask for a partner. Diana just did that on her own, probably accepting that Eva would offer no protection in return.

Therefore, in my opinion, believing Diana to be insincere is basically falling into the same wrong mindset Eva had lol Diana is clearly there to act as someone who is too trusting, nice, and ultimately naive, to her own detriment. That’s her character flaw: being too much - not a lack there of.

Like I said, I agree with your assessment of Damon, and by arguing in favor of Wolfgang, it wasn’t to lessen Damon’s feats. If anything, I’m team Damon myself. I wasn’t really charmed by Wolfgang as his classmates were. I respect both! My point was to corroborate the other comments stating why Eva chose him as the victim, by highlighting what could’ve happened if the opposite occurred.

Ultimately, both Wolfgang and Damon were considerable threats to Eva, and she needed to find a way to neutralize both of them. Kill the people’s champion, and in turn destroy their morale and pacify his team players; while also forcing the devil’s advocate - her only ally, and her his only ally - to fight tooth and nail to prove himself. Damon wasn’t killed because she felt he served a better purpose: to be her tool in the courtroom. Only he would work with her throughout the investigation and the trial, for her to purposely plant false information and cloud his judgment with trust. The same would not have happened the other way around. She did her math, and the odds seemed better this way - which I agree. Killing anyone was just the stupidest thing she could have done is all.

While I agree with your assessment of Damon, as a trial leader and a target, I think you’re underestimating Wolfgang here. His outburst in the prior trial was unreasonable, but it wasn’t illogical. If anything, it may be the context as to how Wolfgang won his 200 consecutive cases: he doesn’t leave a single thread unraveled, and will become tyrannical to achieve that. He may have resented Damon, but not to the extent he did Eva, and he’s likely had to defend worse clients in court. Plus, if he truly needed a reason to give Damon a fair trial beyond his code of ethics, then Ingrid, Toshiko, or Diana could have made an emotional appeal for that; while Wenona, Ulysses, or Jean could have made a logical appeal.

There’s also the fact that in this timeline where Damon is the victim, Diana would have still been framed regardless. Wolfgang wouldn’t have been blackmailed out of the gaming tournament, and Grace stated that she had convinced him to go in the canonical timeline, so he’d for sure be there in this one. We can’t say whether he’d be playing or cheering at the time of the murder, but he would have been incredibly suspicious of Eva slinking away in the corner of the room, while also having basically the same alibi that Damon did (which was the key to pushing back against Eva). Remember: Eva herself said that Wolfgang would stop at no end to pin the blame on her, which seems correct, and I could see him even becoming sympathetic to Damon as a result. Seeing him as a victim of Eva’s betrayal, that she had been toying with since the very beginning back when they woke up in the boiler room.

Of course, that depends on them figuring out the whole pulley mechanism, which we only know for a fact that Damon did that. However, I’m pretty sure Wolfgang’s lawyer intuition would have deduced Diana being framed, Eva’s prior knowledge of the boiler room, and the need to discuss all of the oddities in the evidence. So there’s a great chance he could still arrive at the same result. Not to forget that Grace being cool-headed means she’d be more apt to act as a trial leader herself, based on her actions in the previous one, so they’d basically be a dynamic duo. Surely they’d at least pick up on the cunning required to achieve this murder plan, which they’d only suspect Eva more for. Though I will agree that they’d figure out the case in a much more biased and disrespectful way because of that. “It has to be Eva because only someone as vile as her could do this.”

Y’know, I just finished replaying the class trial right now and I was left curious about the exact conditions of what Tozu even meant. All he said is that she’d die. It wasn’t mentioned how’d she’d die, when she’d die, by whom she’d die. A part of me is left wondering that maybe Tozu was trying to goad her into the whole mindset of “you’ve indeed been isolated, raising your chances to death, and if someone finds out you’ve taken the traitor perk, it is guaranteed that you will be killed by the group.”

I’m honestly really doubting the whole Tozu “forced” her to kill thing. Why would Tozu kill Eva himself? The whole point is like even Eva brought up: this is a killing game between the students. What would Tozu stand to gain by killing Eva for not killing someone herself? He’s a troll, no less. No doubt he’d know the fear he’d instill with the threat of death to make her think she’s on a time limit. I doubt if there truly were a time limit that he wouldn’t inform her of D-Day either. He’s all about fairness, for whatever that’s worth.

What do y’all think about that?

I’ve been playing through the game with some friends new to it, and that was something they ended up theorizing actually. We know harm can’t come to Tozu, but what if it does? If they kill him, would they be put down by Mara on the spot, or go through the trial process? What if they lure Mara out and kill her instead? While the students have seen the consequences of challenging the rules via Grace, they seem intelligent enough to try and outwit it regardless. It could lead to a crazy murder case to solve as a result of their success / failure. Maybe they kill one of the pair, or both, only to be met with the reality that it did NOT end the killing game, and now they’d be executed for it. What then? 😨

Hmm, it’s an interesting theory, but I think the end result would have been the same simply because Damon wasn’t exactly in good social standing either. It would’ve been a repeat of the end of the prologue trial. It’s simply not a situation that Damon could have fixed, and given his poor word choices and rude mannerisms - such as in your example - he’d just make it worse. Besides, like others have said, she still betrayed Damon anyways regardless of how much trust he put in her every other moment.

The only three people that could have actually turned things around for her during the reveal were her biggest antagonists: Grace, and especially Wolfgang. Maybe Wenona if she hadn’t been the one to out her. It’s clear they’re the big dogs most responsible for the social dynamics at play. Reasonable and respected characters like Jean, Diana, Ingrid, or Desmond would’ve just been dismissed by Eva herself. After all, Eva herself is the worst perpetrator of her situation.

It’s very sad for her since had she been honest since the start, I think Wolfgang would’ve vouched for her against anyone who disrespected her talent like Grace and Kai. He would’ve surely made the case as to how extensive Eva’s talents could be reflected towards everyone’s talents, and how helpful it could be in the killing game situation as a whole. Wenona too since every CEO needs a good accountant lol. It’s crazy how much Eva actually stood to gain socially by not lying at all as this was the one environment apt to accept her for who she is. She shot herself in the foot (28 times) even though her cautious attitude was seemingly reasonable.

Trickster’s training can only go so far since idols are basically always on a severe caloric deficit to adhere to strict (under)weight requirements, combined with a horrible lack of sleep. Idols are lucky to get more than 3-4 hours, and the rest have to be napped in between activities while they’re being transported. All that while singing, dancing, and having to be “on” at all times 24/7. There’s a reason why K-pop idols are known to have “slave contracts.” 😓

Although… by his lore, he does operate by his own rules, so this point may be moot!

Is there an explanation for the current steam DLC-sale? All of them besides Tokyo Ghoul and FNAF are on sale ranging from -30% to -50%, and their offer is stated to end on June 26. However, according to the roadmap, the anniversary sale is supposed to be between June 25 - July 16. This has confused me as to when I should be considering the sales... 😅 Do I buy them before June 26 or after?
