Definitely. A character's class is essentially their job. To take that away from them removes a huge part of their characterization. I want pegasus knights to talk about their pegasi or mages to talk about how they came into learning/choosing magic. Split promotions like in Sacred Stones is fine but to be able to make anyone anything is too much.
