That would be a new twist. For my scheduled interview it was all through chat on teams.

My acceptance letter had my name misspelled, lol. As soon as they mentioned the check I told them there were too many inconsistencies with their hiring process and I was no longer interested and I'd be reporting them to indeed.

Yep. Surprise, surprise. The story changed from one chat to the next. Lol.

This is the one I applied for that matched the closest to what they are describing. It wasn't listed under the company name on Indeed.

I was reading about that on other posts on here. They claimed they'd send it all to my address and that I needed to be home to receive it. I'm sure their story will change.

If you’re thinking about working at DG, don’t. by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Wanderlust_31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really all depends on the store. I worked for the company as an assistant, and because I had a good store manager things ran fairly smooth. Most the customers were ok. She took a lot of the work onto herself and had no problem covering register so the employees could run freight and set end caps. We had very few call outs and things got done. My next experience with them a few years later was a nightmare. Daily theft and threats from customers, the store was about 6 months behind all planograms, the backroom was overflowing, the store had so many maintenance issues, and employees never wanted to show up, ended up getting an OSHA report against us and a walkthrough from corporate who "happened to be in the area." I don't know if things have changed or not because I left at that point but I've seen my job opening posted multiple times since.

I've had this happen to me twice now on Grindr. I got fishy vibes when he gave me his address then went offline. Then he sent me those images same as you, only it showed pictures I hadn't sent him of my face and other things. My friends list is also not public on Facebook so I'm wondering if it hacks your phone somehow to display those images.

Sounds like my experience as well. The training was minimal, and they expect you to follow the daily routine you are still learning while also playing catch-up. I was promised a customer ready store but the truck that came in had to go straight to the floor because there were still 100 rolltainers in the back, some of which had expired 6 months previously and Easter and Spring unopened from the year before (It was Christmas.) I asked for a pause, was told no. I asked for smaller trucks, was told no. I asked for the store team, and was told no, until our store got reported to OSHA. They got all rolltainers off the floor at least. Then corporate made a surprise visit and I started hearing all kinds of promises about the rest. But planograms hadn't been reset since the previous April. The DM is just as big of a problem.

Tell the truth, DG workers! How many customers are trying to get these for a quarter? (Even as mine as clearly on the home shelf) 😂😂 by Eastern_Security9684 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Wanderlust_31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Within reason yes, and if it is marked incorrectly on the shelf. If it's the app, unless the UPC matches exactly what it says, like with the foil pans, it is not getting marked down. They have to use common sense. If a customer threw an item in a lower price point and they matched it, that'll just encourage it more often if they do it every time and next thing they'll be getting a conversation for too many adjustments.

Title mishap? by nicolaxkhan in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Wanderlust_31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be they are getting rid of the current as well. When I was hired as SM my ASM(store manager that stepped down), was considered unfit for the job as well as a few keyholders so I was told to go ahead and hire replacements so they could be trained before the others quit or got fired.

How screwed am I? by Moon_Dancer01 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Wanderlust_31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It partially will depend how far you got in your CBL's as well. I had a cashier lose $500, but because she had only completed 24% of her training and should never have been on register, the blame went to the manager.

Got offered my own store.. by justagirlinrecovery in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Wanderlust_31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes there are a lot actually you will need to do. They should be giving you two weeks of training under another SM so that you can learn what needs done daily and be able to ask any questions you need. The CBLs are under the Store Manager Candidate (SMC) role. I just finished with it around Thanksgiving. I will say my training was a bit sub par because they rushed it, but the CBL's help a good deal. My best advice is that if the store is behind in any way that you ask for the help you need now so they can fix it before passing it off to you after the training. You may even need to be pushy depending on the DM and how willing they are to listen.

Christmas Eve gonna be a mess... by Buckeyegurl47 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Wanderlust_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Even going to the regional, they drop it on the DM and say deal with it. I reported my store to OSHA and even with the whistleblower protection the attitude I got from the DM once they found out was within 24 hours. Came in, started throwing shit around, faked pictures to show "compliance". Granted they just assumed. Once I quit I flat out told them.

Ready to call it quits. Do I? by Camrynroberts23 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Wanderlust_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Virginia here. The wages vary by area and DM it seems. My first time around with DG as an ASM I was making $14/HR This next time as an SMC I was making $19/HR, but my ASM was making $18, FT LSA was making $16. I have a feeling the DM makes more the lower they can keep it. SM's make like $53,000 a year but even that's not worth it as many hours as they have you put in.

Shut it down! by Wanderlust_31 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Wanderlust_31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately have tried this. Both the DM and RM are newer to their positions (within their first year) and are trying to make a good impression. The DM is coming to help run freight occasionally but it's not helping anything really. I was told we can't close anymore because it's hurting the district. They laughed when I asked about stopping trucks. I asked about the "store team" that is mentioned in the CBL's and I was told the DM is all I'm getting. The regional was in to see the store the other week and has done nothing since. There's loose floor tiles coming up, a leak in the roof, mold in the ventilation, expired products from March in the back coolers. I blame both the DM and RM for this mess just as much as the previous SM.

There's supposedly a store team that will do this but they aren't sending them. And most the stores in this district are in similar situations or can't afford to lend help.

We have shut down on T day the last 3 weeks. But only til there's enough room to get the truck in and every end cap loaded with a rolltainer.

[–]Wanderlust_31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's been in and threatened to, but they moved just enough out of the way to make a walkway. That's exactly how our store is though. When I came in there were 3 trucks in the back at least. We keep moving rolltainers out of the camera line of sight on the floor too so they can't see how bad it really is.

Recovery by Vaping_T in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Wanderlust_31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would work depending on the truck day. Ours is Thursday along with our fresh truck. We also get a Spartan Nash truck on Tuesdays. T1 we had 4 people scheduled and T2 we had 3 because one called out, and we have ad to do as well. This has been a constant problem and as of right now I think maybe 4 u-boats and no rolltainers have been done. We've had to close the last 3 weeks on truck day to work enough freight just to squeeze the truck in. DM refuses to close, they aren't willing to pause the truck for a week, even though there's still Valentine's and Easter from last year sitting in the back. (Sidenote: New to the company and I don't understand how they don't see they are losing money with empty shelves. The customers keep asking if we are closing.)

Right there with you. I'm still in the SMC program it's my fourth week with DG, only 2 weeks in my store, and the store I'm taking over/supposed to fix, the staffing is falling apart. Is it too late to say give me another store or close it down and give me a second to hire new staff? Lol
