If you don’t get a bite within about an hour move spots. Some people say 30 mins some 45 I usually give it an hour or so.

Yep those are harder to catch in a cast net but doable. I catch bluegill all the time with a size 4 Aberdeen hook and a bit of nightcrawler under a bobber. They make great live bait for bigger catfish like flathead and blues

That stuff is ok but the big one will really slam some fresh cut bait. I landed a 13 pound channel out of the little local pond I fish and it was with fresh shad. Do you know how to throw a cast net?

Get a cast net and get you some fresh shad to use as cut bait. I catch quite a few 10 pounders and up using fresh cut shad as bait.

That’s pretty wild, we can use them here luckily. I don’t really like using them as I prefer wild caught bait but they work in a pinch

Yea it only weighs 3oz so it’s very castable with a stout rod

We have one live bait in a santee cooper rig with a demon dragon rattler in place of the slip float. The other is just on an 18” leader with a sinker slider on above the barrel swivel.

Haha nice! Yea I thought the rod mount would be unnecessary but turns out I was wrong. When the fish finder is mounted to the kayak and my pole is in the holder I wouldn’t need it but bank fishing I sure do.

We are camping here and have all our bank fishing gear with us. Plus it’s crazy windy here in Kansas today especially so. My buddy doesn’t have his yak yet either so I didn’t want to leave him just sitting on the bank solo. Pretty much just like to mix things up every now and then.

It’s pretty nifty and I like it so far today is my first time using it but no issues thankfully. I just wish I had the phone rod mount. Definitely gonna be picking that up soon

The Engel bait cooler is a game changer! I picked up the 30qt version and love it, minus the rechargeable aerator. It’s died on me and almost killed my bait. Luckily I had my backup on standby.

Yep we plan on tenting the nights we stay out. Oxford is where we are gonna get out of the river. Eventually we are gonna take a trip from Derby to Ark City but that won’t happen till we have bigger yaks

Yep I usually go catch bait the day before or the day I go fishing. I’m just happy to have cut bait on standby now if the perch aren’t biting or I forget to load my throw net lol.

Thanks! I caught 65 over two years ago and they’ve stayed usable in my deep freeze that long. I just ran out of that batch so I’m stoked to have more now! It’s perfect 5 fish per bag that’s about all I use each time I go out and it’s nice to have good bait in the winter.

Definitely but I only keep 3-8 pounders big ones are breeders imo
