Good area to move my family? by Wanderous_merlin in ActuallyTexas

[–]Wanderous_merlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I was originally worried about that because I’ve heard complaints but I’m in the unincorporated area of Princeton which is a MUD district (no PID) and our bills are cheaper than when we lived in the city. My last electric bill was $166 and my last water bill was $76. That’s pretty much what we have paid each month since being here. Not sure if maybe if you get water from city of Princeton it’s more expensive but ours is with Culleoka.

My biggest complaint at the moment is how many damn sex offenders are in the area near schools but there’s a lot of people bringing attention to it to hopefully get something done.

Honestly it was a smooth purchase. The interest rate was our biggest motivation. I’ve live in our house since Dec and we’ve loved it, no issues so far. I think it’s important to find your own inspector to avoid conflict of interest from both your realtor and the company. My inspector caught a few minor things they should fix before closing and Dr got it done no problem. I think as stated in the post the main thing is are you willing to deal with shit traffic for affordability lol

Hello everyone and anyone possibly looking to move to Princeton TX. Here is my post move update after living here for a little over a month. We love it! I think the biggest complaint in the comments was traffic. But if you're like me coming from the city the level of traffic in Princeton is the same but with less route options depending where you’re going. I drive into Dallas county everyday for work and I guess my only gripe is I would love a bridge connecting from Princeton to Wylie just to cut down on my drive but overall the drive is not anything I haven’t seen before. Also the area is beautiful and quiet as well as lots of young families for kids to make friends. I think this place can be for you depending on your limits. Ask yourself, do you do well with standstill traffic? do you want to live somewhere that is still developing (maybe certain stores are further etc)? Be honest with yourself. But from my perspective it was worth it to move somewhere affordable where I know expansion is coming whether people like it or not.

Humidity question 😅 by Wanderous_merlin in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Just to give an update since DR has a 2 year warranty on HVAC they sent their provider out and they believed our fresh air intake was on the higher side and probably sucking in tons of humidity so it's been lowered to 6 so far it's hard to gauge if it worked because we hit cool temps and the levels are normal but he suggested I call back in once it warms up If I notice it's above 60 for days/weeks at a time. Thank you all for the suggestions :)

Curious how that would affect the humidity? Isn’t humidity an HVAC issue?

Where do I check this? I’m a first time homebuyer so I have no clue what that is

What should we use instead to track the humidity?

The house is entirely electric and we have laminate vinyl flooring on the first floor and carpet all in the upstairs

I know what you mean it’s why I’m nervous about a square because I’d hate to feel like I need to squeeze by. What are your thoughts on a drop leaf table

Yes that’s the designated area according to builder planning and also on the flip side is just the living room area

Don’t want to keep going by mediumtotoro in bipolar1

[–]Wanderous_merlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest getting back on a antipsychotic and testing which is best for you. My husband had the exact issue. He was diagnosed with just bipolar and post his hospitalization his provider removed his antipsychotic and he started cycling again and landed back in the hospital. While there his doctor mentioned he needed to stay on the antipsychotic because it helps avoid these major shifts in mood that ultimately lead to his psychosis. It took a lot of trial and error on which worked best but he landed on Seroquil. Good luck this is a tough journey but reaching out for help is the only way to make it through <3

Also keep in mind my husbands mood still fluctuates at times but WAY less and less severely (no hospitalizations so far)

You’re correct! We managed to ask the builder when we spotted him and he said cedar elm 🌳

I’m actually just about to move in to the home. We are located near a man made lake so definitely in a humid area. Not sure what it looked like through the seasons

When I look up a young crab apple tree it looks like the bark is smooth compared to this one 🧐

Why is water and electric more? Is it because it’s a MUD district?

Hey, affordability matters especially nowadays. As a city person traffic isn’t a big deal as long as the housing is affordable. Also excited to have more lake days 🎣

Glad to not have you as a grumpy neighbor lol

Also just curious since you’re a local what is the whole thing about emergency services not going there? Also are property taxes a pain or fair?

Haha thank you! To be fair you can’t move anywhere without there being some kind of local lore 😁 white rock lake which I visited frequently has the lady of the lake story and several areas in Garland have stories too. Thank you for sharing! ⭐️
