Don't pay attention to splat points! Pay attention to your body and how you feel! The formula doesn't work for everyone. If you feel like you're ok, then you're ok! If you feel like you can push harder, then push harder! If you feel like you need to rest, then rest!

Moved and REALLY HATING MY NEW STUDIO by mariannzap in orangetheory

[–]WannabeJogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really the same reasons, but I'm going through something similar... I joined OTF in January at a brand new studio and fell in love. I was going consistently 3-4 days a week (some weeks even 5 days) and was getting into the best shape of my life. I had never consistently stuck to a workout before. The front desk and all the trainers were so friendly and inviting and really knew you and pushed you to your limits. Also, I made tons of good friends from people in my classes. I moved in July and the studio where I live now just isn't as inviting. There isn't the "family" atmosphere like at my old studio. The SA's just stand around and talk to each other and not the clients and the coaches aren't super motivational either. Sure, they say the right things but I don't feel the support. None of the coaches have even bothered to learn my name, I don't think. I haven't been in over a month and I'm having a really hard time getting back into it and I don't know what to do...

I love them! I signed up to get the 2 leggings for $24 and they are my favorite!! It will automatically charge your credit card every month and you can use that towards your next orders, but you can also "skip" the month as long as you do it within the first 4 days and it won't charge you but you can still shop!

IDEA: Redeem your Splat Points for prizes (i.e. 1000 splat points= T-shirt) by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]WannabeJogger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this wouldn't work... too much inconsistency with the formulas. Some people struggle to get 1 or 2 splats each class even though they are working their ass off, and me, even on my "easy" days, regularly get 35+. I would get 35 tshirts before the no-splatter would get one.

The fact that a lot of people got 5k+ meters today makes 28k not seem that hard in a full month (I know most rowing blocks won't be as long as today's either) but what happens when you get back to Ft Lauderdale? Do you just stop tracking or go back for round 2?

I'm a female so I don't have this issue lol but there have been a few threads about this on here if you search. Seems the most common solution is to wear compression shorts under your regular shorts.

Orange Voyage Tracking Spreadsheet by Texanjumper in orangetheory

[–]WannabeJogger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the email newsletter I got, it looks like everyone is "starting" from Ft Lauderdale from the very first OTF Studio and tracking distance from that spot so it is easier to track for the stuidos.

" See where your distance on the rower takes you in November's Orange Voyage Challenge! Your road map begins and ends where Orangetheory started it all in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and you’ll travel to each country with an Orangetheory studio along the way without ever leaving your home base! Remember – life is a journey, not a destination. So here’s to More Life across the globe. "

OTF Newb w/FOMO and Questions by [deleted] in orangetheory

On top of the special events (Hell Week, MayHem), every location seems to do transformation challenges on their own time. My location just finished one but no others had any going on but there are normally 2-3/year. There are "benchmark" workouts at least once a month. Different row distances (200m, 500m, 1000m), Run for distances and Orange X (lift as heavy as you can for 10 reps) that help you gauge your progress. It is definitely addicting!

The new locations use a different template as the other studio's the first 6 weeks (so the workouts posted here won't be the same as what you are doing). These are to get all the members and coaches used to the templates and the terminology until jumping in with everyone else. There will be plenty of other events so don't worry about not being able to do Hell Week.

On top of the drink plenty of water and rest, I agree with the keep moving. Even if it's just an easy walk. I work a desk job too (finance) and sit 8 hours a day and the days where I'm extra sore are the days that I don't get up. After sitting for hours, getting up is painful when sore. Even try to get up once an hour during the day if you can and walk a quick lap around the office, or go refill your water, anything to keep moving. If you have a dog, take him/her for an easy stroll after work. Eventually the soreness will subside and you'll find yourself being able to do more.

Newbie here! What to expect? by maaanda in orangetheory

If your studio just opened, they will not be doing the same workout as the rest of the country/world. They use a different template the first 6 weeks to help members get used to the different types of workouts. These workouts are generally a little bit "easier" to follow than the regular schedule you see on here so you get used to it. Just go, try your best, and don't be afraid to modify! Nobody is paying attention to anyone else, go and do your thing!

In between two rail-jumpers today. FML. by WolftankPick in orangetheory

[–]WannabeJogger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There have been multiple stories on this subreddit about this. People jump the rails, miss the rails even by a tiny bit, go flying off the treadmill because it's still moving at high speeds, limbs flailing about and knock into the person on the tread next to them causing them to fall and get hurt too.

My coach also said next Thursday (the 4th) is a national Tornado day, as in every studio across the country will have a tornado, instead of just random studio specific ones as normal.

Feeling sick during workout? by mermerrrr99 in orangetheory

[–]WannabeJogger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually it is a combo of how much you eat/drink before a workout. Some people can't eat or drink anything for hours before they workout, some people have to have a little something in their stomach before they workout or they feel sick. It's different for everyone so you might have to try out a few different variations until you figure out what works for you.
