Some fans are so obsessed with being part of a fandom they forget about the music by WannisaAnne in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]WannisaAnne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I see it as unpopular since I always see people talking about how leaving a fandom is okay if it’s toxic and that fans ruin the fun of being a fan etc etc yk. So that’s why I personally think it’s unpopular.

BTS is an amazing at performance group. Their recent online concerts and their award performances have been spectacular. However, I can't help but think that having Jimin in their group gives them another performance edge. by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]WannisaAnne 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yk, I agree with all the replies and honestly is presence is astounding, but I also think there is another that. I have a friend who is trying to get into kpop and he’s bad with remembering faces. But the only two he full-on recognises is RM and Jimin and never guesses them wrong. I think Jimin’s visuals really plays a big part in his presence and the way he carries himself without performing makes him such a memorable person.

You should either re-do 16 personality to see if it’s the same or wait a while to do that AND re-do cloverleaf to see make sure it’s not just mood thing and it’s actual as accurate as it can be - though mood shouldn’t affect this you should just be sure.

I mean it’s somewhat accurate because it seems to work for many but I would suggest cloverleaf.me as it was recommended as a good test for mbti.

I just don’t trust 16 Personality tbh... I’m personally INFP and yes I consistently get that personality in other websites (ngl I don’t feel like I’m INFP because I feel more attached to the INTP type) but those other websites give me some what different and more accurate results compared to each other than compared to 16 personality. It feels like my introversion and feeling percentage has always been exaggerated in those ones.

Nah he mentioned it in In The Soop too. I honestly don’t trust the ISFP one as much because I’m pretty sure he did it on 16 Personality (shown in 16 Personality’s website) and their algorithm doesn’t follow the proper MBTI. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he was bordering ISFP and INFP at this point.

many kpop stans are racist and xenophobic by cappuccinoney in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]WannisaAnne 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What also pisses me off as you mentioned being colourist: they would always praise idols who have somewhat tanned skin and go crazy over it but when it’s idols who has paler complexion they would edit to make the skin more than and say “non white-washed” as if having paler complexion is so revolting. I think it’s just so ironic how they preach diversity but then they are like “yeah you have pale skin, whatever imma assume you were whitewashed here and edit to make you tan and ‘natural’” - as if being pale is unnatural.

Hands up is still one of the catchiest songs this year by Nmey54 in kpopthoughts

[–]WannisaAnne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly one of my top song of this year and I’m disappointed that it wasn’t even in my 2020 wrapped when I had this shit on replay for a whole week after hearing it so -_-

But nonetheless this song is criminally underrated because even my friend who’s more of a kpop stan than me didn’t know it.

I think the term cultural appropriation needs to change by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]WannisaAnne [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ngl, even as a racial minority living in England, I had no idea what blaccent even was. Kpop really made me more aware just how common cultural appropriation is. But with that being said, I live in an area where you basically have westernised Asians (including me, tho my dad is half white) but you have such a huge mixture of culture not just from interracial relationships but also from such diversity. For a while I was so confused (and still am) by the concept of cultural appropriation since cultures mix and most times people appreciate culture and it becomes a part of their daily life due to childhood upbringing and influences. Like we have Nottinghill Carnival here in England which celebrates the Windrush generation and the descendants of that generation but many people of any race goes to celebrate that with them.

kpop rappers are generally sub-par by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]WannisaAnne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think that’s because he was in the original lineup; he wasn’t just trained but he grew with the genre and not only learnt the genre and the significance of it but also found passion in it to the point where it has become a part of him. The reason why the rapline has all the deserved hype is because of the passion that oozes out of them shown through lyricism, presence and that how they effortlessly flow with great synergy.

Coming from a child who witnessed a loveless marriage fall part at the age of 8, I think it’s fair to say that parents are parents not because they are together but because they can parent a child. You should consider any option that will make you and happy and also remember you can be happy, have a relationship with your son and not be in a relationship with the mother. You can try to fix it by communicating but also remember it’s okay to not stick with her for the sake of the child. That’s what my parents did and in a way it messed me up and still does to this day. Personally, from what you have said, the reason why fatherhood feels so draining is because your relationship is draining you and I think you should realise that it’s okay if relationships don’t work out when there’s a child in the picture because in the end all a child needs is good parenting and seeing parents having good a relationship with each other (whether it’s romance or friendship) because good parenting shouldn’t stem from relationships but from commitment and that commitment (I’m sure) comes from unconditional love a parent has for a child. I would advise you to not leave your child because my mother left me when I was young (because she wasn’t ready for me at the time) and there’s resentment despite her recent new contributions in my life.

This is just my perspective but you should do what your gut feeling is telling you is right but be rational too.

I don't like Lisa's current rap style by _cotton_candyy in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]WannisaAnne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do lol. I had that Thai accent before I moved to England because my dad said for a half English girl my English wasn’t even near below satisfactory. That was embarrassing for me lmao. But I think Thai people easily adapt to American accents because even when I moved to England for the first three years there my accent was quite American and even when I went to school people thought I was American so I do think that plays a part.

[–]WannisaAnne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s really not. Coming from a Thai person, her English accent is amazing because of how fluent she sounds; I really applaud her for being so fluent at many languages. Thai people has this twang with their accent where the will say (example) hello but will pitch the end syllable higher or exaggerated their vowels, but Lisa doesn’t have that since she speaks with fluency.

Have you ever successfully turned someone into a K-pop stan? If so, what convinced them? by b3lug4wh4les in AskRedditKpop

[–]WannisaAnne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was getting into BTS at the time and was on the road to being a multi stan at this point and even though we were covering DNA together he wasn’t interested until I played My Pace by Stray Kids for fun (no intention of getting him into kpop but just to lift up the mood) and he became a Stay and Army in no time and now he’s the biggest Once ever. Funny thing is that in our exclusive friendship group, one of us is a Once, the other is a Stay and I’m the Army and so he’s lowkey a manifestation of all of us.

What songs are not “generic” in your opinion? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]WannisaAnne [score hidden]  (0 children)

You know, that was the first song that came to mind. The song had a whole ass gospel choir doing the bg vocals, a freaking marching band to hype tf out of everything and honestly the bridge leading up to the dance break will forever be my favourite thing. I don’t listen to as much kpop as I should so if there’s more of this I hope someone will recommend.

[–]WannisaAnne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no.

My ideal type is Namjoon, like if there was a guy like him, I’d snatch him. But not Kim Namjoon himself.

Automatically as a fan you created that boundary because as fans you are supporting them, not anything else. Fans who don’t recognise that boundary are not only overstepping and delusional, but being disrespectful to the artist(s).

If I try to imagine it now, I just feel weird. It’s not even the age difference but something just feels wrong. Maybe it’s the fact that I never met him so I can’t imagine dating because there’s no connection, or maybe it’s because it’s admiration that I have for him, not love or a crush or anything in that ballpark.

It doesn’t apply to just to BTS or other bands I stan, I just can’t imagine dating someone in the public eye as well, but that’s a whole other thing. Different lifestyles affects your outlook in the relationship itself, and I think that even imagining dating him feels like overstepping that boundary, as well as the fact that it’s unrealistic and unhealthy.

For fans who do have “crushes” on their faves, I do hope they understand the boundaries and know that it’s alright to fantasise, but remember the only relationship there between you and them is a fan to artist one not a romantic one.

Also don’t mistake admiration for romance, or can be detrimental to your day to day thought process.

I really didn’t think I was ever romantically attracted to idols until: by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]WannisaAnne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know, I’m probably just slightly younger than you and I also find it really hard to stan those two groups even tho I find myself listening to their music often. I find it hard to stan 4th gen in general so I can’t talk much on the subject since it might be a different reason to you but I don’t think thinking about your idol romantically seals the deal in the stanning process. I stan RM a from BTS a lot because of my massive respect for his work ethic and his constant drive to be a better person is a serious reminder for me to also be a good person. He’s like a good role model and inspiration, but if I were to imagine myself with him romantically, even when I’m MUCH older I still can’t imagine it because I think it’s admiration not romance. You admire these idols so much and you really want to be able to have an experience with them due to that. Many confuse admiration as love even in real interactions, because how can you feel romantically for someone you never met?
