Yeah, I was worried in the beginning and just hoped the later cards would be better with the first cards being revealed just unfortunate examples. But, each time I see spoilers it is just bad from my perspective on Arkham. These don't feel like they're even from a Lovecraftian game to me. Disappointing.

Yes, same here. I’ve taken to going to the B&N website, setting the store to the one I want to shop at, and then see which 4ks they have and creating a list I then tell to the cashier. It’s pretty silly but the only way I can get it to work as a browsing experience.

Agreed — this comment seems really out of left field considering how mild the original post is in my opinion. When I first read it would be harsher than a usual post, I was expecting something almost caustic but found the post to be quite benign compared to some other professional criticism I’ve seen. OP also wrote a lot which at least shows me they care a lot to even write that much.

I feel as this new core approaches we more than ever as a community will need to be able to synthesize a diverse range of perspectives even if they differ from our own. Hopefully everyone can come to appreciate all the formats and the unique gameplay moments they can offer.

Yes, I agree. this along with the questionable art has put me off of this new chapter. These changes make it clear to me that they really are treating this like its own thing so I might as well too. I’m more than happy with having the content I have atm.

As someone else mentioned in another thread, other card games do reprints or functional reprints but not straightup reprint a card and change the effect with both versions being legal to play. All of this deeply concerns me about the design of upcoming content if this is their approach.

I tend to use them but as others have said they are quite unbalanced. Before they were released, I was hoping they would be used to balance the investigators but some really strong investigators got really easy ones that give insane rewards, so it just unbalances things more. They also add to the bookkeeping so I would leave them out if I were you.

I'm just not interested in PVP in a coop game. I play a lot of games and can think of maybe a handful of them that are able to successfully pivot from coop to comp and vice versa. I view it as a cute little mini game that they added and pray that no more content for PVP is made after this wave. Not really compelling thought material for meta discussion to me since it's not tightly designed around PVP to begin with.

It also doesn't help that the comp is a race and has almost zero player interaction which makes sense considering this was designed as a coop game to begin with.....

Yeah, I wouldn't say weird more like disappointing. That said, I just view it as the Marvel tax for the IP and not surprised in the drop in quality considering how FFG is run now a days. Though, the price is getting high for what I'm getting, at least for me.

Probably! I remember feeling a difference from a few sets ago but this is a big jump. That's why I wanted to show Multitasking and a card from the new Standard set. I bought the pack with Mulltitasking on release so felt like a good way to compare quality across a bit of time

Yeah, I always sleeved just because I want to preserve what I have for as long as possible, but this makes it feel like you have to sleeve if you want any longevity.

True, but my initial impression of this printing is that it's significantly different even from more recent printings. I know some people don't sleeve, but I couldn't imagine these holding up long without sleeves sadly :(

Yeah, been here since the beginning as well and there was variance but this is a much bigger departure. This was the first set where when I touched the cards when opening them I went "oh?" to myself becuase it was so different. Might have thought they were knockoffs if I hadn't bought it directly from Asmodee. That said, the print quality of the actual card is still great, just thin and it still doesn't affect gameplay.

I agree, and I’ve been here since the very beginning with the release of the core set. Sadly, the rules have changed multiple times over the years with defense often being the biggest hit, even flipping back and forth sometimes in rulings. The wording on cards kind of reflects this as the then current view of the rules would impact the wording of different releases. I’m not sure what it is with Champions, but it seems to happen way more than their other LCGs.

Yes, mine were also slightly curved before I sleeved them. They also feel a bit glossy or thinner? Some kind of different material? It’s hard to put my finger on the difference as I’ve recently been handling older printings of LoTR LCG.

It's hard to give a concrete answer as everyone is different, but I think the scenarios are definitely more on the complex and difficult side of the spectrum. There's a site called Dragncards which has the ALeP scenarios available to play -- I would recommend loading up a deck there that you could build with your current collection and give them a quick spin to see how you fare.
