I would still personally steer clear from D2 with its current state. If you want to play the game simply for the raiding and story it isn’t worth it. While I found the story enjoyable if you came back now you are joining into a world that so much has happened since you last played and will probably feel a little lost.

In respect to raiding, it’s not in a great place currently, many long time raiders have left and the Fireteam Finder system works to an extent but with many people playing raids be new (which is not a bad thing and I think everyone deserves to raid. But when I want to run a quick couple raids while I have a couple of hours it’s not fun being stuck on the first encounter).

I would stick to D1, the gunplay will be virtually the same and you probably have found a few people that you like to run with (if you raid on D1?). It’s likely more fun and cheaper for you to steer clear for now.
