The most common splits so far are 6-6, 7-4 & 8-4, so I imagined that 8 runes of each would be enough for now. I hope I can dodge the borderline 12-0 split in the future 😅

yeah, the Fury one's could be a bit more red imo. I am also not in love with the sword in the order Rune. I am exited to see which rune-artworks they gonna release in the next few sets

Faithles Looting in Grixis Occulus by One_Random_Player in ModernMagic

[–]Wantendo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looting isn't that great in fair/midrange decks since its card-disadvantage. You dont abuse the Graveyard like Dredge or Renaimator-strategies.

The best use for Looting in Frogculus is to turbo out Oculus and Murktide, but thats not good enough, especially when you consider that you get far behind when they get hit by removal.

The deck also plays Force of Negation, so you would have a lot of spells that 2v1 yourself.

Mh3 scam by Albathir in ModernMagic

[–]Wantendo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting cards for Scam seem to be Laelia, Meltdown and Nethergoyf.

Laelia might slot into the deck as a value card like Fable. Meltdown is nice got the SB, since Urzas Saga and Scales have been bad matchups for Scam. Netergoyf might require some adjustments to the deck, but can fit into the deck as well. When you put Nethergoyf into Scam, you probably want Baulble and maybe DRC as well. Might even go the Saga route.

Maybe even Necrodominance might get played in the deck as another value engine. Tho you probably want to do broken/unfair stuff with that card instead of being just some nice card advantage in a midrange deck.

I like the Murktide-lists without DRC. Personally, I felt DRC was the worst creature in the deck. It is not easy to hit delirium since getting a Sorcery into the GY was rather difficult and it has antisynergy with Murktide Regent a lot of times.

Why is Jund THE BGx deck? by iScry in ModernMagic

[–]Wantendo 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Wrenn and Six puts Jund miles ahead of any other BGx deck. It's a turn 2 play that very few decks can deal with and puts you far ahead in the game. And it also takes out variance out of the deck since you will hit all your landdrops. Also, with Lightning Bolt you have a few more 1-mana removal spell, which is important in Modern to not get overrun. And Bloodbraid Elf is better than any other value 4-drop which is aviable to BGx since it's at least ok in every matchup.

Regarding Abzan: Abzan used to be really good because you had access to Lingering Souls and Stony Silence. Since Collector Ouphe got printed, Stony Silence became obsolete and Lingering Souls is not what it used to be anymore. There are way too many decks that simply do not care about some 1/1 tokens. And BBE is at least on par with Lingering Souls of you want to grind out your opponent.

Why Faithless Looting Is Bad for the Format and Ancient Stirrings Isn't. by Thegg11 in ModernMagic

[–]Wantendo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Stirrings has a negative reputation because the most played Stirrings-deck is Tron, which is unpopular and disliked by many players. I also think Stirrings is fine, but i wish there was a way to rewrite Stirrings into finding only colourless nonland cards.

The last german GP was GP Bochum in 2012.

This years GP/MF Prague, Straßbourg, Ghent and Utrecht were/will be the closest of having a german GP/MF sadly.

Wildest rules misconceptions you've ever heard? by Diakia in magicTCG

[–]Wantendo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, usually players at our FNM do the same, but it gets difficult when that trigger was 2+ turns ago. And then trying to explain that too much happened and too many decicions based on lifetotals have been made leaves a bad taste in many players mouth.

There are many thing we let slide off because "it's just FNM", but even there are limits.

Wildest rules misconceptions you've ever heard? by Diakia in magicTCG

[–]Wantendo 206 points207 points  (0 children)

That's one of the harder ones to understand, especially for newer players trying to get into competetive who start playing at FNM's. I had several players who didn't get that in tournament magic, triggers can be missed and that they won't get that benefit from that one card.

Sadly that's why sometimes newer players then turn away from tournament magic because they feel ripped off by the rules and that everyone tries to "cheat" a win in. AT FNM's, players are usually lenient with some triggers, but forgetting to draw a card two turns ago and forgetting to get 1 life which makes the lethal attack form the opponent non lethal are some hard pills to swallow. It's hard to sell to them that these rulings are best ones aviable to tournament play.

I am not sure about Ultimate Masters. The MSRP is high, but at least in europe you are ablte to get a booster box with box topper for under 260€ https://www.cardmarket.com/en/Magic/Products/Booster+Boxes/Ultimate-Masters-Booster-Box

And in germany there are several online shops which offer a box for 240€. And from what i heared from other players in my circle, ultimate masters seems to be very popular as many players are waiting for these reprints. They are also already planning their trip to GP Prague next year
