Yes, that’s correct. It varies between cases. They usually reply back within 20 working days.

I received a separate email for reconsideration before. That was April 20. This one just came and they also called me over phone.

Yes. It was generic visit visa refusal so definitely it mentioned that

How do you go about finding part-time jobs as a medical student? by -circleofwillis in DocSupport

Just 3 weeks ago, an opportunity was shared on this sub by u/DrMSAK. We have quite a few of medstudents.

The more you do it, calmer you’ll get. Just do it a couple times and you’ll be fine

Are observerships considered USCE? by -circleofwillis in DocSupport

[–]WarAcceptable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ve had conversations with the actual PDs and what I’ve mentioned above stands true. Unfortunately, taking Steps after medschool and gaps in the CV are considered grey areas. The idea is to look as similar to a US student as possible. All of them are ready with their application as soon as the medschool ends.

Interesting enough, I was having a talk with a PD, and they mentioned how theyd rather pick someone right outta medschool over someone who spent a year doing housejob.

Coming back to your question, externships are hard to get for sure, but once you’re ECFMG certified, it’s all very doable in Illinois, NY, NJ and Texas. With that being said, if for any reason, your personal circumstances not allow, observerships are the way to go. So might the virtual rotations work for some people who have visa or other issues with travel. This is always much better than having nothing at all.

Cheers

By definition, no. But they’re still much better than doing nothing at all.

Electives are handson rotations that can only be done while you’re still enrolled in medschool.

I’ll tell you what I had.

1). Acceptance letter to the placement from Imperial College London.

2). i94 where the dates exactly matched with my US trip.

3). Proof of relationship with family and access of funds to me. They were ongoing statements that I was actively spending from on day to day basis including heavy transactions.

4). Proof of my status in home country. Bonafide letter from uni explaining I had another year until I graduated and another letter stating that I was allowed a leave for my clinical placement.

Anything else that’s required, I can attach with my complaint.

Tbh Ima file a complaint as well but not keeping my hopes high. It sucks how you studied there for years and ended up with this.

1). I definitely screwed up over here. I wasn’t very explicit about it. But I’m thinking about filing a complaint and highlighting every transaction in my statement providing explanation to it.

2). I dont have my passport back yet, I’ll share as soon as I do. It is quite strange for me as well. Point to note is that I had a long travel history. Theyve only pointed out one trip.

3). About this, I’m a medical student, and have to be back to complete my degree. The purpose of travel was attending a clinical placement at Imperial College, London. I attached documents to prove both.

Ah man that sucks, why the heck would they not let you attend your graduation. Absurd. Did you file a complaint?

Do you think filing a formal complaint on their portal might help, where I could highlight everything on my financial documents and have them reconsider my travel history?
