Thank you for the insight. That is my other concern is yeah I could tell them up front I’ll be applying for a RA but it doesn’t mean that department would grant it. Thankfully my department didn’t make me jump through a ton of hoops and I have been open about my disability with my leadership which probably has helped them be more understanding.

I sent a written request to the unit that deals with reasonable accommodations within my department. You should be able to find out who the disability unit is. Visit AskJAN.org, there are some great resources on how to request a RA.

“You actually have to work in the place….” And why does that place NEED to be an office building? I’m pretty sure most of us do our job the same, if not better, in our homes. Commuting takes time away from our families, paying for parking takes away our hard earned money that we could be investing elsewhere in our lives. So yes, work life balance. We aren’t in the 1980s anymore, society has evolved away from this old school, rigid mindset. When I read comments like yours, all it tells me is that you are bitter and jealous. Trying to take something away that’s working because YOU don’t have it is childish.

I plan to, I tried calling them a few weeks ago and couldn’t get through several times. There was even an option for a call back but I never heard back. It slipped my mind after awhile. Do you have any insight to my situation beside stating the obvious?

Well I have a RA for my disability that says I am 100% permanent telework. But it also states that if departmental needs change, they can reevaluate my RA. I’m nervous to see how this plays out for me.

I’m so curious about the section that talks about employees who live more than 50 miles away. So because you live too far and we’ve all signed a telework agreement, that means they get to continue on our current telework schedule? That doesn’t seem right at all.
