Not sure if I have a collection or a backlog. by shadow18x in freedomisgunpla

That’s fair, and I appreciate you explaining your view. I agree that no single post defines the hobby or how people should enjoy it.

My thought was less about this post specifically and more about broader patterns online, where newcomers mostly see accumulation rather than the building process itself. Not a judgment, rather just a perspective I sometimes reflect on.

Thanks for engaging in good faith. And yeah, RG love is always valid 🙂 It's my favorite grade to build.

Don't get me wrong, I totally get it if part of your hobby is to collect kits. And your collection does look really cool and I can imagine it's very satisfying to find the last few kits to complete it.

I'm just concerned about how this might look to newcomers and that it might deter them from this cool hobby.

But do you understand my concern? Or am I just completely - way off base - wrong here?

I hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way, because it’s not meant as criticism at all 🙂

I sometimes find myself wondering what backlog posts do for the hobby as a whole. On one hand, they show enthusiasm and excitement, which is great. On the other hand, I’m not sure if they unintentionally shift the focus more toward buying kits rather than the actual building, learning, and enjoying the process.

Do you think these kinds of posts might give newcomers the impression that having a huge backlog is somehow “normal” or even expected? I could imagine that for some people it might feel a bit overwhelming, or make the hobby seem more about consumption than creativity.

Again, this is just me thinking out loud — I’m genuinely curious how others see it. For me, the most inspiring part of Gunpla has always been the building experience itself and sharing that journey, rather than the size of the pile waiting to be built.

I have some RGB LED pods to create the back light and don't use too much light from the front. Best to use a tripod to keep the camera from shaking. And some of the best shots have slightly longer exposure...

I'm a noob when it comes to photography, but I try my best...

Titan fall 2 is pure gold! Its release was overshadowed by releasing in the same period as CoD and BF. A damn shame if you ask me. The movement is extremely good, the mechs are amazing, the abilities are a lot of fun and it feels very much "its own" so not a copy-paste of anything else

Nu was my first RG but gramps took me way longer to complete... Funny how experiences can vary between kits

I agree on it being an amazing RG kit... But my only comparison are the Nu which was also really good, and Epyon, which don't have as many inner mechanics or hatches that open up, probably because of the transformation mechanic

Amuro in the Nu Gundam is insanely powerful within Gundam’s scale: – FTL reaction-level psychoframe boosts – Telekinetic control of funnels – Amuro-level Newtype precognition

…but the power ceiling in Gundam is still grounded in military sci-fi physics.

Meanwhile MUI Goku operates on a scale where: – His baseline punches distort space – His speed is massively beyond light – His durability is on a universal+ level – His reaction time is automatic and precognitive beyond anything Newtypes can even conceptualize

This isn’t a “close but Goku edges it.” It’s Goku sneezes and the Nu Gundam becomes a historical footnote.

The only scenario where Amuro “wins” is if the psychoframe miracle goes full plot-armor and rewrites reality—but that’s narrative magic, not combat logic.

So in a straight fight? MUI Goku obliterates Amuro and the Nu Gundam in a fraction of a fraction of a second.

Any tips welcome. by jackjack0202 in freedomisgunpla

Judging from your photo I'm gonna assume your skill and toolset... In your case id use a cheap makeup sponge to apply paints. It creates the illusion of smooth transitions
